joining us is roger mcnamee from washington. u have been liaising with some of the people who will make decisions, what is your argument to them? roger: the tone of the government has changed so dramatically in recent months. i think there is an awareness everywhere that -- especially google and facebook but also amazon and apple have issues that really are bad for the economy, competitors, and bad for consumers. you see all of the big four being investigated at the moment. the cases are very different. the one against apple i think is trivial. it relates to the app store and i think could be resolved by them changing the way they price to the developer. the one at amazon is more structural. i think amazon provides a really valuable service in a way that will survive antitrust investigation, even if they have to make pretty profound changes. google and facebook, the google is completely different. the issues go to the heart of the business models. there is no easy fix. that doesn't mean the antitrust investigations will lead to a

correction wilf >> bertha, thank you very much for that and to all our reporters let's bring in roger mcnamee, a co-founder of elevation partners and early investor in facebook which of the big tech giants is most likely to face a successful antitrust or any regulatory probe and why? >> wilf, i think your guess is as good as mine, but they are all exceptionally vulnerable to one degree or another. i think for apple the antitrust issues are not strategic to their business and so from my perspective it's at least relevant to them. i think amazon is the one where there is an opportunity for them to negotiate a reasonable settlement fairly straightforwardly. for google and facebook i think they are really poorly positioned and the real question is how hard will the government press on the opportunities it has? and just for an example i've been involved with a group of professors at yale university and m.i.t. on applying the current standard of antitrust, what is known as the chicago school, nornt platforms. historically the perception was you couldn't do it because the services were free but in e

you look at some of your early investors, like roger mcnamee.is is what they do. so is this your effort to diversify the revenue stream to broaden out so you're not married to that revenue stream only, selling people's data to advertisers? >> well, first of all, let me just defend our business model for a second because i think it's a great business model, actually, and i don't think that the business model is the issue here. first of all, we're not selling data to advertisers and the ability for us to actually run ads on the platform is the way we offer the service for free to billions of people around the world. this is the way that 90 million small businesses are actually growing their businesses because they have an ability to reach new customers and it powers the economy of small businesses around the world. so the business model at facebook is not the issue. i think that there are number of things that we should have done better over the past few years but you've seen that we've invested and we're continuing to invest a great deal to impro
