roger stone isn't charged with it but it shows the various outreach efforts and contacts between roger stone and officials in the trump campaign. it talks about how in the summer of 2016 stone was talking to senior trump campaign officials and they wanted to know about future releases that were coming from wiki leaks and talks about an exchange to an aid to a senior trump campaign official after wiki leaks had started releasing the stolen e-mails from john podesta and this person wrote to stone well done. we don't know who all the people were that stone was in touch with. we know one trump campaign official he had contact with was steve bannon who was a very senior person in the trump campaign. we are waiting to see if we learn more today about whether we get insight into who the officials were. >> absolutely. evan, he is accused of trying to stone wall the house intelligence committee. what does the indictment say about that? >> one of the more remarkable things is the fact that you can tell that the special counsel and the investors know so much more than is allowed that they put int

if you go to roger stone's fundraising websites one question is who framed roger stone? roger stone framed roger stone because there are his text messages. there are his e-mails. the investigators have a lot of proof to back up these allegations, these seven counts that he is charged with. at some point he will have to treat these extremely seriously. his legal team certainly does. he has lawyers that came up from florida that had a bit of a delay of getting waved in. they are treating this extremely seriously because there is a lot of evidence that is stacked up against him. while roger i think you will hear when he comes out of court will try to minimize and try to create a circus atmosphere around this, i think this judge, she will treat this extremely seriously. she is not going to put up with a lot of the circus atmosphere that he likes to create. >> when it comes to -- i'm hearing word from inside the court that roger stone's attorney has officially pled not guilty on his behalf. the judge can tell roger stone to stop talking, right? >> yes. definitely. >> i wonder

roger stone did say, yeah, i'm roger stone. then he was taken into custody and charged. >> what happened? could you see roger stone's demeanor? could you see any sort of negotiations happening between the agents and roger stone as to if they were going to let him get dressed, if he was going in handcuffs, anything like that? >> reporter: it was a wild scene. it happened quickly. when the agents fanned across the lawn they were moving slowly, but urgently. when stone came down, within moments it was cordial almost. they had a discussion. then, in fact, we were moved down the street. the agents came across the street while it was happening and moved us. we were unable to see the whole interaction. we know roger stone is no longer here on this street in ft. lauderdale where he lives with his wife. he was gone within maybe 30 minutes. so depending on if that was a discussion or him getting dressed, we are unclear at this moment. roger stone was discussing apparently what was happening to him this morning which was he was being arre

and perhaps the most important moment when donald trump is talking to roger stone is august 3rd. on august 2nd, a man e-mails roger and warns him that wikileaks is going to be releasing some damaging information about hillary. the next day we learned roger is on the phone with donald trump both of them want to deny and have indirectly denied that the subject of wikileaks ever came up do we really think that is logical or possible when it was on the tip of donald trump's tongue in late july? he was asking russia to find the deleted e-mails. he was curious about the july 22nd dump. those late-night calls and that particular one is, to me, really interesting. >> okay, carol, to your fellow superb writer, manuel, talk about the trump-manafort relationship, manuel, and stone's role in that >> oh, trump and manafort get together specifically because of roger stone. roger stone knows that as they're entering in the 2016 campaign, the cycle where they're moving towards the convention, that there could potentially be a floor fight at the convention, and he tells donald trump paul manafort

and, why did roger stone want you to lie? >> you will have to ask roger stone. was given immunity by prosecutors to make this testimony because my lawyer did not want me held for perjury because roger used that memo in his testimony, the house intelligence committee sworn testimony. >> that's corsi saying his friend is doing perjury. then you have person two who stone touted about in assange. in one of his tv interviews, randy, person two, denies stone's depiction of him sharing information. the allegation for mr. stone is that you are the intermediary for assange and him. >> i had no idea things i may have said to him, but certainly did not pass information from assange to roger stone. >> today, mueller reveals e-mails that show him discussing what wikileaks might release. taking stone's request and passing it on for specific e-mails. it doesn't state if the request was acted on. mueller shows these people, the two men's relationship began to fray, charging stone threatened him to prevent him from cooperation and threatened his pet, stone writing he would, quote

roger stone's indictment.es it get us any closer to answering the question whether the trump campaign clued with wikileaks or russia? >> i think it does. in that it begins to show us a little bit of what robert mueller is thinking. you know, you were right to single out that line about that he was directed, that the trump campaign official was directed to contact roger stone, which gives some sense of robert mueller understanding the internal decision making and has evidence of the internal decision making of the trump campaign during this time window. and it is really notable that, you know, indictment after indictment, court filing after court filing bob mueller continues to show us the what without necessarily telling us the why. and you have to think that he is withholding the why, the motive, for a reason. as phil mud was sort of saying earlier, that there is a lot more to come when you begin to sort of read between the lines of what mueller knows and isn't telling us. >> juliet, you are shaking your head

roger stone and wikileaks. and the dnc and the stuff that was stolen from the democratic party and the clinton campaign by russian government hackers. andrew miller complied with that request for documents and communications. he did hand stuff over to the fbi. but when he was also subpoenaed to testify about those same matters, to come to washington, d.c. and testify in person to the grand jury convened by the special counsel, to that subpoena, andrew miller said no. and the reason anybody has paid any attention to andrew miller's case since then is because his no, his refusal to testify to the grand jury, that has become a legal vehicle for conservative legal groups who are using mr. miller's case as a way to try to attack and derail the special counsel's investigation overall. andrew miller saying no to that subpoena, him subsequently being held in contempt of court, him risking jail time for refusing to testify to the grand jury, that is the way some conservative legal groups are trying to challenge the cons

my sense is there's near come as to roger stone and others. because for a couple of reasons. first of all mueller did not have to lay lout the facts for the obstruction charges against stone. so he gave us more information -- which is permissible. it's a speaking indictment. but he's laying out for a reason, to inform the public and to say it's the bread crumbs. there's more to come. and two different places. if you bring charges and you have sort of ready-made charges and maybe you have other possible charges to bring, you're not quite there yet and you bring the charges you're ready to bring and execute search warrants and hope you get that little bit more you need because there is a lot here already. as people have been saying throughout the day. there's so many facts in this indictment about sdaegs -- i'll use the word coordination through roger stone. and remember that -- if you go back to that, one of the objects of the conspiracy, it's hacking and disseminating. and this to me, these facts are really and you can't look at them alone. you have to go back to everything we
