cal trans reopened the lanes. >> right now i'm standing along king street. this is the northbound off ramp from interstate 280, northbound in to san francisco. cars started rolling here around 9:40 this evening. cal trans closed this section of interstate 280 last thursday and worked all weekend very hard replacing two seismic joints in the roadway and were able to wrap up the work essentially monday afternoon and went in to a little bit more concrete pouring and they had to rebuild one of the guard rails along the side of interstate 280, then go in and paint and stripe the lanes and they finally wrapped all that work up around 9:40 this evening. a spokesperson says they were able to finish early because of lessons they had learned during previous closures of interstate 280. >> we use the best practices from the work we did out here in memorial day and 4th of july and we were able to get everything accomplished in that narrow window of time. we actually only had seven more hours to do twice as much work but they were able to accomplish it even a little bit quicker. >> cal trans originally when they started this summer-long project left themselves a little bit of
