nate rollins joins us. nate, what you can tell me about the 54 minutes? anything weird? >> thanks for having me, greta. as the tell graph reported, authors have been combing through the 54 minutes where the pilots were communicating with the air traffic controllers and so far nothing out of the ordinary has been found. the last communication was from the co-pilot, the 27-year-old co-pilot at about 1:07 a.m. which was 54 minutes into the flight. he told air traffic controllers that they were cruising at 35,000 feet. the only thing that's even remotely suspicious about that call is that he had announced that about six minutes before. so that is not a required call to aghowns it twice. aviation experts say that we shouldn't read too much into that. that happens all the time. just trying to keep the tower informed. >> you know, nate, the 1:19 a.m. phone call when the co-pilot says all right, good night, and finishes his conversation with the air traffic controllers, everyone says it's absolutely normal. everything is fine. nothing unusual in this transcript of the conversati

policy analyst in the new america foundations education policy program, and from eugene oregon jim rollins, director of admissions of the university of oregon, and jim, let me return to you, one thing that has changed about applying is that we have moved from the old three or four colleges to students commonly applying to 12 and 15 and even more because of the ease of appliances with the common application and applying by computer. has that paradoxically kept the s.a.t. and the a.c.t. in the game because you have to assess so many more applications? i think it has, but i think they are are all subtleties. i wouldn't say nationally it is 12 to 15, certainly among a certain segment of schools that happens. but the bottom line, is even -- might have a little and having watched my own daughter go through that process last year, i can guarantee you those schools requiring a common app are not so easy. but either way, i think your point is a great one, for whaver reasons and whatever motivations the fact that students are applying in greater numbers there are many students in the first place, at
