it looks like romney is running. do you think he is? >> john, after spending a day in san diego, i've gone from yes to maybe. there is some news here. bloomberg politics reporting exclusively that lou eisenberg is going to transition out of his investment job and become the national finance chair of the republican national committee. he is a great fundraiser. some people speculate that he is doing it to avoid having to choose between jeb bush and chris christie. that is a big get for the rnc. he is becoming the finance chair of the rnc. the previous fianance chair is leaving to go work -- i have talked to people here who have lobbied him. they said they don't want him to run. they are wishful because they don't want to work for his campaign. they are doubting that he will make the race. he is getting some discouragement about whether this makes sense. >> i am hearing some of the things you are hearing. there is a question of whether he decided to dip his toe in the water. the problem is -- the other side of that coin is the family seems

i think mitt romney did spot something here. i spotted a weakness on the right when it comes to jeb bush. and it is interesting if you look at the polls, if you look at bush's popularity among republicans when you break it down into the sub groups when you get to the tea party and the base of the republican party, there is a base of those who don't like him as those who do like him. in the tea party, there was an assault and fight of the obama presidency and it was a purification campaign in the republican party and looking at george w. bush presidency with compassionate conservatism that gave conservatism a bad name and allowed the country to turn to barack obama. we will make sure we never nominate another compassionate conservatism. and so now jeb bush running on the middle of the road and they are saying we tried that with your brother and we're not doing that again. and that is something that romney saw. >> and that is all in play and doesn't get to the foreign policy when we are in an environment when we might have a secur

the only person to show more commitment to a romney presidency than mitt romney is eric hartsburg, whoed the romney 2012 campaign symbol on his face. but mr. hartsburg told buzz feed today that he will not support a third romney run saying "he's going to say something later on to mess it up. it's going to look real good and then bam, something else. he screws it up." mr. hartsburg has so far had two treatments for removing the romney tattoo. but he's apparently going to need many more. joining me now is david corn washington bureau chief for mother jones and msnbc political analyst. david first broke the story about the now famous 47% remarks that mitt romney made during that campaign. also joining me is casey hunt political correspondent for msnbc. she covered mitt romney's 2012 campaign. casey, what does mitt romney have to say this weekend when he goes out there to add more fuel to this thing? he can't just say that i'm thinking about it or yes, i want to be. is it time for him to announce a pack or something like jeb bush has already done? >> i don't know that they're that far away
