ron paul finished third.when the political storm left behind was that there was a market in iowa which republican presidential endorsements for the iowa caucuses were being bought and sold for cash. after the dust cleared in the 2012 presidential race after barack obama had been sworn in for a second term, there was still this hangover in republican politics and in iowa politics, this hangover worry about the all-important iowa caucuses, which have such an important role in choosing presidential candidates in this country. do the iowa republican caucuses have a bribery problem? about a year later in february 2013, a former staffer for michele bachmann filed a complaint with the federal election commission. while michele bachmann claimed the only reason she lost was because ron paul was paying money to that guy to get his endorsement, what her former staffer claimed is that michele bachmann was paying too. she also had that guy on the payroll for his endorsement. that complaint was filed february 2013. later t

paul during ron paul's run for president in 2012. during that campaign, six days before the iowa caucuses, kent sorenson rocked the political world by publicly switching teams. kent sorenson had been the iowa state chair for the michele bachmann for president campaign, but sort of out of nowhere just six days before the caucuses kent sorenson publicly flipped. spent the afternoon campaigning with michele bachmann as campaign chair, that night appeared on stage at a ron paul event and changed his allegiance to the ron paul campaign. yesterday kent sorenson announced that switch was the result of a $73,000 bribe paid to him by the ron paul for president campaign. he pled guilty in federal court on two counts yesterday. pled guilty to working with the ron paul campaign to lie about the bribe money that was paid to him when the campaign exposed expenditures in federal documents and pled guilty about lying and was an obstruction of justice charge. one way to get in trouble for bribery is get caught taking the bribe. the other way to get c

ron, you missed this because i think you were getting makeup or something.ain that in "pop news" but we di want to start on a serious and rather strange note. we've got a story about a cold case cracked apparently thanks to a children's toy. police in utah say they've solved a decades old murder with the help of legos. abc's aditi roy is in our los angeles bureau with more on that. aditi, good morning to you. >> reporter: good morning, dan. it's the fascinating story. investigators say it took them 23 years to catch a break in this cold case. the game-changing clues, new dna evidence and lego toys that were found at the crime scene. investigators say the fingerprints on these colorful play things helped them bring charges finally in a decades long murder. the lego bricks belonging to 78-year-old lucille johnson's grandson were found laying on the floor of her home where authorities say johnson was hit in the head and strangled to death in 1991. >> she had many years ahead of her that we were robbed of. >> reporter: detectives learned from family members that

. >> hi my name is ron case. i feel like we are running a marathon and, see the finish line hopefully we'll get a little bit further. 12 years ago i was part of the founding members to try to improve this area for safety and beautification and security. the most of the years we've gotten a few grants and move a couple steps forward and get knocked back a step. we're doing a lot for our organization we want to be inclusive of everyone in the neighborhood and monetary reasons was not part of being part of our group. we looked at a number of years ago we looked at how to be self-sustaining in keeping things moving in a good direction. it came down to the cv d being the best option many people worked hard on this and trying to be inclusive with everyone in the neighborhood that is very important. and where we're back to where we were a number of years ago so i highly support it thank you. thank you, mr. case >> next speaker >> president chiu and supervisors i'm laura are long time resident and a small business owner

we have heard from captain ron johnson a number of times.s is about being with the people in the community. we physically saw him walk with them on thursday night and say this is about talking, knowing each other. what are those ideas that you guys have come up with? >> well, what the clergy came up with and along with other community members in that room, there is some immediate needs that need to be addressed. one thing they committed to do was to make sure that those who are out looting and stealing and creating mayhem at night, their statements were those people need to be arrested. they committed to support their local law enforcement in terms of doing that because they understand the importance of it. because they, too, want to see those that are protesting legally have an opportunity to do that. they are very committed to law enforcement being able to arrest those and engage those that are doing damage to innocent people and property, as well, too. in addition to that two other things we talked about again, i spoke about just a moment
