in the meantime, ron allen is standing by at the u.n. general assembly. e about the resolution and what consequences this vote is going to have. there are some potentially serious ones, right? >> well, there are. the consequences are what the trump administration is threatening, at least, is retribution against any nation that doesn't support the united states on this. the question is whether that's a hollow threat or a real threat. remember, the sponsors, the backers of this resolution are countries like turkey, egypt, jordan. key american and muslim allies in the middle east. place s where the united states needs help to try to prevent terrorism. they are also threatening to withhold aid for programs to help familiefamilies, children. a lot of doubt whether the trump administration will carry out that threat. now, the resolution that is on the table basically condemns the u.s. decision to recognize israel, recognize jerusalem as israel's capital and to move the embassy there. this has been a huge flash point since the trump administration announced this

nbc's ron allen remains on duty for us in erie, pennsylvania, where it looks like it is just as cold but looks like the snow stopped, ron. >> reporter: yeah, that's the big news, craig, the snow has finally seemed to stop. it's been snowing for several days. pretty much since christmas eve. they have about 5 feet, roughly. it's hard to keep track of it. you can see out here, we're out in the county a little bit. and the snowdrifts are piling up. the roads are still kind of covered with snow. the secondary roads are -- some are not plowed yet. there's an amazing amount of snow out here. we came out here, too, because there's a national guard unit over here that was called by a nursing home in this area to come and shovel out their exits and entrances. they were concerned about what could happen if there was some kind of an emergency and they needed to evacuate people. that's what the national guard has been doing around this county all day, trying to help out medical facilities and other places where people might be shut in. that's one of their missions. there is still a state of emerg

ron allen, you're outside his home, and you've talked to some of his neighbors, i understand? what have you learned about him over the past few hours? >> reporter: well, case, he seemed to be a person not a lot of people knew. tell you also about this neighborhood. surprising, a nice mixed neighborhood. there are, a big jewish and muslim community here. one of new york's, brooklyn's main thorough fairs and still a very active crime investigation, heavy police presence. you can see a bomb squad truck here. we think there is a possibility that he built the device here in this apartment building. they've been going through it. there are a number of relatives we believe he lived with over a period of time. earlier today there were a couple people escorted out by police. a woman and a man in a wheelchair. they may be relatives. they may be people with nmore information. again, a very, very busy scene here. one of the neighbors we spoke to earlier, what was said about the suspect and the family. >> i don't know anything about them. i don't see them really. i see them come in and out
