we are going to where ron allen has been monitoring to what has been happening in court today. what are the details of this release where bankman-fried is getting the money from? >> well, he just left. he left the courthouse in a black suv. the bond was secured by his parents' home. the equity in their home out in palo alto in northern california. which is where he is headed, and he is going to be under house arrest, house detention there at his parents' home with strict electronic monitoring including an ankle bracelet, and confined to that place in northern california, the area of northern palo alto. the hearing took an hour, and there was a proposal that the defense proposed and the prosecution agreed with it. they said that it is based because he agreed not to fight extradition and come back to the u.s. and the defense also said that he is not a flight risk, although that is a concern that some might have, but that is where we are. it is an amazing scene just to see him leave here after a brief court hearing. he is due back here or due back in the next hearing on january 3r

i want to bring in ron allen outside the courtroom. trying to get my head around this, that bankman-fried will be released on bond. this is after the consumer kmod tus tradesing commission estimated there was an alleged $8 billion fraud of his customers? >> reporter: and a million customers, victims potentially in this whole thing. the bond is going to be $250 million, which the doj prosecutors said was the largest pre-trial bond ever they could think of. it was proposed by the government. the government said that they were offering this proposal in large part because he cooperated and he waived extradition and came voluntarily to the united states last night and didn't fight the extradition process. that was something that worked in his favor. he has to surrender his passport. he's going to move out to california, where his parents live. he has to live in his parent's home. he has to report there by 10:00 a.m. tomorrow morning to be fitted with an electronic monitoring devicen his ankle. the judge says he will be -- there will be stri
