ron claiborne. >> good morning, everyone. we begin with a colorado man who intelligence sources say has admitted to having direct ties to al qaeda. he's the main suspect in what the fbi says was a very real and serious terror plot against new york city. abc's chief investigative correspondent, brian ross has more. >> reporter: the break came at the fbi offices in denver. 24-year-old najibullah zazi, had been grilled for 16 hours over the last 2 days. and today, officials say, he finally admitted he had ties to al qaeda and began to negotiate a plea deal. officials were privately ecstatic. but hesitant to reveal many details publicly. >> we will make sure if there were crimes that are committed, they will be charged. and people will be held accountable. >> reporter: new york police say they do not know the intended target of the alleged plot. authorities say they found videos of new york's grand station in zazi's computer. and there's always concern about the new york subway system, especially its vulnerable underwater tunnels

. >> but, first, ron claiborne with the headlines this morning. >>> we'll begin with that wild tennis match last night, a dramatic and bizarre finish to serena williams' semifinal match at the u.s. open. the bizarre ending came when serena lost her temper over a official's call. >> it was tirade that cost serena a chance to defend her u.s. open title. at match point, losing to unseeded kim clijsters, serena was faulted by the line judge for her foot touching the line. during a serve. serena then turned to the judge and went off. in the confusing minutes that followed, the judges gathered to discuss what happened. serena protested. >> i didn't say i would kill you? are you serious? >> but the tournament referee sided with the line judge. and williams was penalized a point. since it was match point, she lost. afterwards, serena said, she wasn't sure what she said during her on-court tirade. >> what did i say? you didn't hear. >> reporter: but she was unapologetic. >> they gave me a point penalty. unfortunately it was on a match point. >> reporter: serena said there was a pattern of judg

here's ron claiborne. >> it was a nightmare. lisa demarie, it's been the hardest year in their lives. it began a year ago when they dropped off some digital photos to be printed at this wal-mart in peoria, arizona. among the 144 family photos, the developer spotted eight that shocked her. she turned them over to the police. according to the police report, the photos show their three young girls in provocative positions, their genitals exposed. >> one of the photos is three of the girls laying down on a towel with their arms around each other. we thought it was so cute. they're still bath time photos. but it's right after the bath. >> reporter: investigators went to the home to question them and search the house. demarie said he could understand why the police were there but said the pictures were innocuous photos of his kids goofing around naked. abc news acquired four of the photos in dispute. their lawyer would not release the others for fear of criminal charges. >> our family is very open and comfortable. we don't want our ch
