we had ron klain, chief of staff, leaving, replaced by jeff zients. in a white house leave, what is the level of disruption? what change happens? what can we expect? >> well, the good news is that i don't believe that there will be a time disruption. the people, the senior advisers to the president who are doing their jobs, those jobs they'll continue to do. mr. zients brings a history of being a management professional to the job. we've already -- we worked with jeff for the first year, year and a half of the administration. he is a known face around the building. i think there's a level of comfort there. but i think back to the fall of 2020 during the campaign and during the transition and the crisis we were in, and the national crisis that this president and his administration faced. these two gentlemen, mr. klain and deese, who are leaving, played a pivotal role in helping the president reopen the country, laying the groundwork and the architecture for what would be the american rescue plan. it reopened the economy, record small business ownership

even his outgoing chief of staff, ron klain, said the quiet part out -- out loud, he's looking for totest poll shows the president has more work to do. you see a trend that has been familiar the better part of the last year and that is his overall job performance at 45%. that is relatively the same but when you dive into the actual issues, majority of voters disagree on the handling of everything from the economy to ukraine to border security, still, the white house thinks given the unemployment, perhaps the jobs report, covid being on the back burner they have a decent shot at it. the president will be accompanied by kamala harris heading to philadelphia for economic event and party fundraiser which is a clear sign the president is ready to pass the baton to another democrat. a potential factor which may or may not impact the election plans, the federal investigation, hunter biden, major headlines yesterday trying to flip the script, not calling for common investigations and raising questions about hunter's business dealings in the infamous laptop. republicans are eager to know more

ron klain has made it clear, karl. the joe biden is running for a second term. on his way out yesterday he said the following there in washington. >> as i did in 1988 and 2008 and 2020, i look forward to being on your side when you run for president in 2024. >> bill: now we were giving indications that will be the case. how do you size the re-election campaign up as of today? >> well, if he decides to enter the contest, which i hope he doesn't. if he does decide he is the frontrunner for the democratic nomination. i don't think he will be unchallenged. by the end of the year we're likely to hear somebody say it is time for a generational shift. we have been governed by people from the baby generation for 32 years. i will lay out an alternative vision for the future of our party and the future of the country. it won't get better for president biden. approval rating in our poll was 45%. if you look at the average he peaked in early january and drifting back down. the performance is not going to get better. he is struggling on the job. it will et worse, not better.
