roosevelt leftwich joins us with more. >> reporter: abc2 news has learned that the traffic will do a traffic survey on this road. they say one of the things that's been going on is the county police have been pulling over speeders and on painters mill road trying to slow folks down. folks say they want something done to prevent another tragedy. two people died at star circle and mcdonogh road. three large housing developments are off mcdonogh road. folks say you take your life in your hands when you try to make a left turn. cars are going well over the 45-mile-an-hour speed limit when they're coming over the hill. >> it makes me slow my pace down a bit so i can control it if i need to make a jump or nays move, but -- fast move, but you never know. >> i don't know if it's anythey cran -- anything they can do. there's already a light. maybe more patrols, more radar. set up radar traps. i don't know what else can be done. >> reporter: it seems the county has been running a lot of radars. they have been really out lear in the past 15 -- here in the past 15 minutes or so writing tickets.

roosevelt leftwich, website whoib whoib -- abc2 news. >>> two men get into it on route three. this leads to a stabbing at the next intersection on gambrills. >> reporter: this is just crazy. switching drivers, led to violence. 23-year-old rolls sudbrook is charged with first degree assault as a passenger riding in a pt cruiser. anne arundel police tell us his car mixed this with with a 44-year-old driver of a ford explorer. witnesses tipped the police off about the driver switching seats. this leads to words between the driver of the ex-lowerrer and sudbrook. the driver of the ex-lowerrer gets out -- explorer gets out and confronts sudbrook, stabs hip. the ex-lowerrer chases the cruiser. then they get into it again with the driver of the explorer holding down sudbrook until police get there. in the end everybody went to the hospital either because of stab wounds or because of the accident. police tell us they will keep this investigation open for a while. jamie costello, abc2 news. >>> new at 5:00 tonight anne arundel police are investigating the report that a 9-year-old girl

abc2's roosevelt leftwich has more. >> reporter: major robert marchanti was known as a man who loved children. he would donate his time to help kids in need. he taught at several schools including dundalk, marsen state and carney elementary. teachers say he was only here for five months before he got called up. he made a huge impact. he taught gym but would also go from classroom to classroom when he had downtime to help. >> you could give him the littlest one in the building or the oldest one. no matter who he had, he did homework with these kids. some kids he didn't goat the support they needed and never came in. he would do that. he helped out kindergarten all the way to fifth grade and did a phenomenal job. >> reporter: teachers say he was so well liked by the students at carney that on the last day before he was scheduled to ship out, they stood up and saluted him, something that almost brought the big name to tears. >> they ought to rename carney elementary in his honor. >>> today most of baltimore's delegation met with the mayor. congressman sar bines met to identify funding.

roosevelt leftwich tells us the driver is at fault and possibly in a lot of trouble. >> reporter: he is facing several state charges and a federal charge after he flipped his truck near the fort -- ft. mchenry tunnel. police say this crash probably shouldn't have happened. police say the driver of west orange, new jersey, was drunk. he tried to change lanes stew quick lie in the left lane tractor-trailer overturned that tractor-trailer stopped, caused all traffic to stop on i-95. the tractor-trailer -- the debris from the crash fell over that elevated portion of the road on to 895. >> reporter: greasy is charged with two counts of did. ui in addition to a federal charge of operating a vehicle while under the influence. traffic was flowing smoothly but the 894 was closed for as much has four hours. the barrels fell down on 895. >> they were fairly heavy, just by circumstance, the baltimore harbor tunnel was just about to be put in twoway operation, so all traffic had been held at that time. we were lucky we had to traffic flowing at that time. >> reporter: he is being held in the balt

reporting live in towson, roosevelt leftwich, abc2 news. >> terrible, terrible. >>> let's get you up to date on this gas main break. abc2 news cheryl conner is in southwest baltimore with the very latest. cheryl? >> reporter: that gas main was here at millington and affecting a senior housing facility and also an elementary school. 900 buildings total. crews from bge will be out here for days after water got into that gas main around 3:30 this morning. linda with bge joins us. certainly a tedious effort. the first you were telling us starts with shutting off gas to the 900 buildings. >> correct. once they worked to row patient -- repair it, restoring it we have to get into each of the homes, about 900 buildings total to turn the gas off. then we can safely get the gas out of the main, make the repairs and go back in to restart gas service if it's safe to do so. >> reporter: we're talking a multiday effort where you go in and have to go back in. >> a gas outage is different from an electrical outage. 900 customers we can typically restore them on short order. in this case multiple day
