what a memorable week it has been for maury mcelroy -- rory mcilroy. ended third after imploding on the back nine. mcilroy dominated the final round to finish off 14 under. he began the day seven shots adrift but took his first title of the season. it has been a difficult week in some ways, but a great weekend others. i played really good golf throughout the four days. it seemed like today it was meant to be. the guys ahead of me were making mistakes. i take it vantage of that. was an the back nine, i couple behind. he made a couple of mistakes and i was able to birdie the last two. it seemed like it was sort of meant to be. >> adam scott has retained his place at the top of the world rankings after winning the u.s. pga event in fort worth, texas. scott needed to finish in the top 13 to remain the world's top-ranked player. he finished at nine under par with the same score. into the playoffs, after they traded birdies, they both fired birdies at the second. the tie-breaker broken on the third extra hole thanks to this pretty.
