veronica macias with some tough news in santa rosa this afternoon. okay. flooding still possible, especially here in the north bay. today's rain comes as cleanup from tuesday's atmospheric river is still underway. our chopper was overhead yesterday showing the flooding impact in sonoma county. a lot of that rural farmland now under water. in some places, you can only see the roofs of what look like barns. and there was a live look all across the bay area, our cameras showing showers in san francisco and in oakland, and we can actually see a nice rainbow in san jose a little bit right there. let's check in with meteorologist zoe mintz for the very latest on this last round of rain. before we before we actually get a break. >zoe>yeah. luckily a nice break is on the way just in time for the weekend, because this is a definitely powerful system that's making its way across the entirety of california. it is pummeling us here in the bay area, but it's not nearly as strong as tuesday's storm system. that brought upwards of 4 to 6in of rain. let's take a look, tho

hayward and oakland 12 and santa rosa in town only a 0.04. but that's going to change a little bit later. system. we had the warm front sector go through and that lit up more towards about san francisco down to santa cruz, and that is now pushing east. so there is it looks like a little bit of a lull here for some, but now starting to pick up for areas to the north. you can see that initial band went through that dropped that quarter of an inch at bonnie doon, also towards ben lomond. but you can see boulder creek, but they're still pretty good activity now. san jose, santa clara valley, back towards the santa cruz mountains, and the forecast projections have definitely favored that over other locations versus the last couple of systems, which was really all about areas to the north. so maybe that will be the theme here. but still any rain, you have to keep an eye on it here. so flood watch out for the north bay. maybe not two inches. i'm usually a little higher than most here, but i just i don't trust it in this kind of a pattern. so casader

the neighborhood of unincorporated santa rosa. now, this is after mud slammed into a home tuesday night. firefighters rescued robert boyd's wife and daughter from the house and red tagged it. now, boyd says his wife sounded terrified when she called him at work after the landslide hit, and she was stuck % difficult to understand what she was saying and she was obviously panicking. she didn't know if she could get out and but. it was just so scary. as far as we know, the rainfall had been 4 or 5 days. it got to a saturation point in the ground and probably about 25ft of mud just kind of slid into the house and took out the house. so landslides continue to be a concern here with the potential of landslides, i should say. but further north, officials are also keeping a close watch on the russian river and the flooding that can happen since the river did swell over its banks. we were there yesterday and we know that in the morning hours at least, there were about four water rescues from sonoma county fir here in santa rosa. this area

santa rosa. they've already had an impressive year. they had over another 4 inches of rain and inch of rain in san francisco over 3 inches of richmond. but look at this in san jose this it's really interesting. they fell under what's called the rain shadow effect. you get all that moisture running over the top of the santa cruz mountains, rains out over the mountains. by the time we get to san jose, the santa clara valley, there's not much moisture left so they will have less than 10th of an inch of rain. but don't worry, there's plenty more to come. boy, it is get fierce looking toward the mount tam cam. look at that. that is amazing. it is just raging up there. so windy across the mountain peaks. we've seen some very strongest down below. but as a truck, ross of those exposed pieces are going to see some really strong winds. fact, you're seeing that rain system beginning to move in. this will pack a punch overnight tonight and tomorrow. it is going to be a nasty day around the bay area. be careful if you've got to go out a pretty str

we're along stanford and hall in unincorporated santa rosa. this is one of the usual kind of trouble low lying spots in the area. earlier this morning, the sheriff's office, along with the sonoma county fire district, were out here around 545 responding to a body recovery operation. a high water vehicle was deployed, as well as a swimmer in the water, and more than an hour later, a male body was found in flood waters. these areas get flooded pretty quickly when we get a significant amount of rain. our victim was not in a vehicle. our victim was located just in the flood water. there was a bicycle also found close by and that was the victim's bicycle. the sheriff's office also confirming this midday that another body was found yesterday before five in the evening along franz valley road. that victim's body was found inside a culvert on private property along franz valley. both deaths are deemed storm related. now, flooding continues to be a concern, particularly in low lying areas along the russian river. but the storm has also created heighten
