rosa chief. >> i'm tony gazner, chief for city of santa rosa. 7:00, 7:30, multiple fires throughout the city, drained our esources quickly. and had mutual aid come in and then tubbs fire coming in, realized with the wind we were battling on our own fires this this fire would come into santa rosa. did what we could. ordered up mutual aid early, we -- we ordered up mutual aid early, established a unified command with cdf or cal fire. set up our staging area in k-mart parking lot in city of santa rosa. didn't take long before we realized that was not a good spot. moved to our fire station 3. had thee immediate need strike teams. 25 other strike teams inbound. and it was all we could do to put engines in the right place. had every resource in the county, recalled every firefighter in the city of santa rosa, and used every resource to the best of our ability. but with that kind of wind, that fire, not sure when it started but blew into santa rosa around midnight, little bit earlier, by morning time, fire about 25 to 30,000 acres. came in hard. very windy, dry wind and taxing for the entire city. so with t

rosa. as we are talking about right now, this fire is unprecedented for the city of santa rosa.hen we spoke to cal fire earlier, they said the fire is estimated at 20,000 acres and started near calistoga in the overnight. because of these incredible winds whipping the flames, the flames have impacted the city of santa rosa. the freeway was jumped and it's on both sides of 101 nearby centennial way. what we are looking at right now is what used to be a mobile home park. i can only see about two dozen, possibly, mobile homes that are still here and don't seem to be impacted by fire. the rest of them are all basically piles of ash, at this point. we are hearing multiple higher pitched explosions right now and we are told that the other side of the road from the mobile home park was a gun and ammunition shop and it sounds like, potentially, it may have caught fire because we are hearing what almost sounds like rounds of ammunition exploding. we are here on top of the kaiser permanente parking garage off bicentennial way in santa rosa, looking down at what used to be a mobile home pa

the sonoma county board of supervisors and santa rosa city council will debate new housing policies helping to help those people find someplace to live, especially with the housing shortage. proposed changes include an ordinance to prohibit landlords from price gouging. another change would allow people to live in rv's at the side of the destroyed home the plan to rebuild. >>> plans are in the works to start the cleanup process and the north bay. during a community meeting yesterday, officials outline plans for cleaning up debris left behind by the fires. the first phase begins this week. it focuses on household hazardous waste and debris including asbestos, pesticides, propane tanks, burned out vehicles, air conditioners and refrigerators. >> at the end of the day we can return to you a safe and environmentally clean site for your family to rebuild. our goal is to have that work completed by early 2018. >> hundreds were at the meeting to get an idea of how the cleanup will be handled. >>> today, more testimony is scheduled in the case of the man accused of shooting and killing kate steinle
