cnn's rosa flores has returned from honduras, telling their stories.re do we know about this from honduras today? >> reporter: you know, the president has come out and clarified its position, the position of the honduran government, saying that he has created an interagency committee that's going to be led by the first lady of that country to repatriate these children. so a lot going on. and here's how he says that the plan would play out. so the first lady would identify about 13,000 children that are honduran. they're in these shelters. so you know that 60,000 of we have been hearing of the total, they believe that about 13,000 of them are honduran. the first lady would also call for all of the parents to start gathering their documents so they can claim these children, and then for the deportation process to happen. so it almost seems like they want to buy themselves a little time for the deportation process. so let's talk about that process. it's not as easy as we think, brook. the first thing that has to happen is immigration needs to get involved

cnn's rosa flores joins us from honduras where deported children are being bussed today.e their way into the united states but now they're being deported back to their home country. rosa, tell us more. >> reporter: you know, carol, here is the irony. so mexico is deporting children as well. if we think that the u.s. is overwhelmed, imagine this. hundreds, if not thousands of children, reach only to mexico only to be detained by mexican authorities and then bussed here to this facility where i am right now. we are expecting six buses today and they are all going to be processed in the building that you see behind me. these are unaccompanied minors. some of them will be claimed by their parents, others will not be claimed. hundreds of hondurans are deported from the united states every week arriving here to a processing center dubbed the world's murder capital with only a few belongings in hand. sometimes minors arrive too like this boy who is 17. he says he was mistaken by u.s. authorities for an adult. and he's not the only child trying to make it to the u.s. advocate org

let me bring in cnn's rosa flores, and, rosa, you spoke to some of these unaccompanied children who cameterday. what was their experience like? tell us about their journey both to the united states and then the return home. >> reporter: you know, some of these stories are so traumatic. we spoke to one young boy yesterday who said that he was kidnapped. he was robbed. he was blindfolded. thrown into a house and held for ransom and wasn't released until his family delivered thousands of dollars. now, this happened in mexico, so this is the dangerous trek that we've been talking about for days now. it's the trek between central america and the united states. we also learned how this pipeline of minors just keeps on moving and delivering into the united states. it's a modern type of coyote or human smuggler, but now they're called guides. and they give these youngsters tours to the united states, so they're actually bused in droves in just commercial buses. they are taken to city to city, and they're actually instructed and they're given money. and here's how it works. so, they get on these

here's rosa flores taking us on this american journey. >> reporter: this neighborhood in honduras is and violence but to families as well, and to this mother who would give anything to see her daughter again. this woman says she's always supported her children, even when one of them wanted to take on the dangerous and uncertain voyage to the united states in search of opportunity. nearly 20 years ago, natalia kissed her daughter good-bye, the daughter left on foot, never to return to honduras. this mom says she's now trapped in the very situation her daughter left behind. over the years, she has only spoken to her daughter by phone, never seeing her face to face. i met this family while i was filing special reports for cnn in honduras. and when i learned about the agony they were facing due to separation, i thought, there's something we can do here. and i started looking for her daughter, leslie. and found her living in new york, sharing her mother's grief. leslie says she used to cry alone, thinking about her family thousands of miles away. she was undocumented and couldn't visit. w

one of them belongs to cnn's rosa flores who came to the country legally and offers some personal thoughtsp in progresso, texas, which is a tiny town in south texas, very much surrounded by mexican culture. for example, my grandmother's 90th birthday was very much like it with mariachi, a large cake, a lot of people. it sounded very much like mexico but was very much in america. when i was born, the border was less complicated. there was no wall between progresso, texas and nouveau progresso. as a matter of fact, it was so uncontroversial that my parents who were legal residents of the united states actually drove to mexico so that i could be born. my mom says that i was born in mexico for economic reasons. they couldn't afford a hospital in the united states. my dad worked in a dairy farm. my mom stayed at home with the kids. i'm one of five. they just couldn't afford it. but we were educated in american schools. i was the first to graduate from college. even getting a master's degree. i actually feel very lucky that my parents were here in the united states legally and they became u.s. c

let's have cnn's rosa flores here with more.e right way. where are we going to send them? they want to repatriate them, send them back home. talking about mexico where there's great dialogue and mechanisms in place. you went to see what happens in honduras and countries like that. what does this mean in terms of the calculation if this gets better or worse. >> from the side of texas it means they want to secure the border and like you just mentioned earlier, they are saying we can't wait for washington. can't wait for that to happen and we need to do something and, of course, texas has a wallet the size of texas. they are ready to say, okay. we are planning to -- to spend $1.3 million a week to flood the border with law enforcement to make sure that it's secure. now, it's important to look at numbers because we've been talking about the 60,000 unaccompanied minors that are expected to make it to the u.s. i tloo i looked it up this morning according to the u.s. customs and border protection, the impact on texas in particular. in
