rosa flores is live with more. hi, rosa. >> reporter: good morning, carol. lot of developments here. let me start with the latest from police. they, of course, have been investigating this stabbing spree over the weekend on saturday. just imagine, police say that a man dressed in a private security firm uniform entered into the mall and made some sort of reference to allah, asked several people if they were muslims and then started attacking people at that mall with a knife. now, police are not identifying him just yet, but, however, community leaders here in minnesota who are in contact with the family have released his name. and as carol mentioned, his name is dahir adan. 22 years old. he went to school in this community, he worked in this community for a private security firm. but we have to add this, that authorities believe that this situation would have been so much worse if it wasn't for a hero that was on site. a police officer that they are identifying as jason falconer from a nearby town who was at the mall who responded quickly. according to surve

rosa flores is following the story for us this morning. hi, rosa. >> good morning, carol.ntioned, an unusual situation. authorities in minnesota and federal authorities were able to get a confession. the man involved, 53-year-old danny heinrich. he confessed to abducting, sexually assaulting and then killing then 11-year-old jacob wetterling back in 1989. we should warn our viewers that the details shared in court are disturbing. our affiliate wcco was inside that courtroom. here is what that confession entailed. we know heinrich confessed to having a mask and a revolver to handcuffing the 11-year-old boy, putting him in the car. as part of this confession as well, he said that the little boy asked what did i do wrong. the little boy started crying he also said and asked to go home. heinrich goes on to say he sexually assaulted the boy and then killed him. burying him later and then, hear this, he also said he went back to that site, to the grave, and then noticed that there was part of his red jacket still visible. so what he did, according to this confession in open cour
