rosa flores joins us closer to the school. good morning, rosa. >> reporter: good morning, dave. investigators this morning reliving the horrors as they process the scene. painstaking task. according to the sheriff, this is an extensive scene. the deadly trail according to the sheriff started outside of the school where they found one individual dead. as they got closer to the school, two individuals were found dead and then, of course, there were 12 inside. what we're learning from authorities about nikolas cruz, 19 years old, expelled from the high school. according to authorities, they believe that he was ready for mass carnage. he had multiple magazines and ar-15 rifle he purchased in the last year. the trail inside the school according to investigators is heartbreaking. cell phones that were probably ringing when students left them behind or had text messages from those worried parents who were just trying to find out if their loved ones were okay. we know that the suspect is somewhere in the cell this morning and he will be facing a judge for the very first time later today

rosa flores, thanks so much.s morning buzzfeed is reporting a youtube user spotted a threatening comment to a video he had posted back in september and alerted the fbi who got back to him immediately. the commentator had the same name as the florida shooting suspect. the key to all of this is that this message on youtube, buzzfeed is reporting, from the person with the same name as the alleged shooter here, said he wanted to be a school shooter. cnn's jessica schneider joins me with the latest on that. this seems to be an extraordinary clue, jessica. >> reporter: it does, john. the fbi was alerted to this. this youtube user, our cnn team has just gotten in touch with. he tells our team that it was in september he noticed this disturbing comment that was on a video he posted on youtube. it came from a user with the same name as the gunman. you can see the comment -- this is the alert he sent to the fbi. the comment was i'm going to be a professional school shooter. you can see it there, the name matching the schoo

joining me now, rosa flores in parkland, florida. there for so many students, rosa. >> reporter: john, it is a somber day here in parkland, florida. you can see the growing memorial behind me. so it is difficult to say that this community has begun the healing process because they are still laying their loved ones to rest. this hour, there are two fune l funerals, in total, three funerals and two visitations. the students are going to be attending these funerals and visitations. and then heading over to the state capitol to demand change. they demand from lawmakers that the gun, the type and style of weapon that was used to kill 17 of their fellow students and teachers be banned from this state so that another school does not have to go through what they went through. now, we are also learning more about what the school will be doing to reopen its doors, for staff and students and they tell us that they plan to do it in a phase by phase process. first, teachers are expected to be allowed inside on friday and orientation is scheduled f

. >> rosa flores in parkland, florida, right now. we're also learning much more about all of this, rosa. >> reporter: well, john, good morning. this is reporting from our colleague evan perez, authorities here believe that the suspect had ten firearms. now, we know that the style of weapon that he used to kill 17 people here was an ar-15 style rifle. it is unclear exactly what these other firearms are and the atf, of course, trying to trace those weapons, trying to figure out where he purchased them, and then one question that i have is where he was keeping all of these weapons because from the interviews with both gma and florida sun sentinel, which really takes us into the daily life of the suspect, we have learned a lot. but we have only learned of the one ar-15 style rifle that his host parents said that he had inside the home. now, the father, the host father believed he had the only key, now we know that that's not the case. but they also shared with these media outlets a few other details. they say they never noticed his aggres

cnn's rosa flores in parkland with the latest on what we have learned about the gunman. rosa? >> reporter: fred, we have learned disturbing details. first of all, that 150 shots were fired and this happened within minutes because we're also getting the minute by minute detail from the police. let me take you through this. according to the police, they say that this individual arrived at about 2:19 p.m., within 2 and a half minutes he starts firing the gunshots. about 67-- 6 to 7 minutes later he stops the gunshot, he sets the ar-15 style rifle down and he starts fleeing the scene, blending in with students. that's how he was able to get away from the school, he stops by a subway and buys a sandwich and a drink and after that, he stops by a mcdonald's and is there for a few minutes. and then he decides to walk to a residential area and that's where a police officer from coconut creek police department got wind of him. he saw the suspect walking by, and this officer says that his training kicked in, he identified the suspect, based on the description that was coming through his

cnn's rosa flores joins me.e're learning disturbing new details of the shooter's social media history. what more can you tell us? >> you know, there are disturbing accounts in this instagram chat that one of our colleagues was able to enter. our colleague paul murphy was invited into this chat by one of the individuals inside. there are six people commenting, including the suspect. the comments are racist, zenophobic. a few examples to share with you. he says he hates black people simply because they're black. he hates jews because -- he says they're going to destroy the world. one of the things that he says is, quote, my real mom was a jew. i am glad i never met her. about gays, he says, quote, shoot them in the back of the head. now, in this chat, he also shares photographs of himself in menacing positions. also him wearing body armor. now, the story behind the body armor, they actually talk about the body armor in the chat, in the conversation. he says, oh, i got paid $330, i'm going to go buy body armor onli

i'm joined by rosa flores. rosa? >> reporter: well, john, reliving the horror, that's what's happening inside the school building that you see behind me as investigators scour through the deadly trail. they are collecting evidence, trying to connect dots. as you mentioned, the suspected shooter charged with 17 counts of premeditated murder. they're collecting the evidence that would be used in a trial to prove that that was indeed premeditated murder. they're scouring through social media footprint to see what clues were there, what clues were missed, perhaps. we're also learning about the heroes in this particular case, that assistant football coach, aaron feis who used his body as a shield to try to protect parents. i talked to a parent yesterday who was outside the school at about the time that the shooting broke out. and she says that as soon as she got a text message confirming her daughter inside was okay, she started putting other students inside her car and driving them away to safety. again, a lot of these s

we have cnn's rosa flores in parkland, florida. rosa? >> reporter: good morning, chris. we've learned that the suspect has been transported to the broward county jail, which is actually attached to the broward county courthouse where he is scheduled to face a judge this morning. and his booking photo. take a look at your screen. this is him in that booking photo taken at the county jail. now, behind me what's happening is investigators are processing this extensive scene. they are gathering evidence. as we mentioned, he has been charged with 17 counts of premeditated murder. investigators behind me trying to gather the evidence to prove that. we have to warn you the images you are about to see are very graphic. terrifying moments unfolding inside this florida high school. a gunman brandishing an ar-15 style semiautomatic weapon, opening fire, killing at least 17. >> there were tears. there was crying. some of my classmates did not know if they were leaving the school alive. >> reporter: the chaos erupting minutes before the end of the school day when the fire alarm sound

rosa flores joins us from porkland, florida, we're learning more about the shooter's arsenal of guns,osa. >> reporter: this is really surprising, jim, especially because as you mentioned we heard from his host parents, we also heard from police about the type and style of weapon that was used for this massacre and now authorities telling my colleague evan perez that they believe that the suspect had ten firearms, all of them rifles. right now they're dong a lot of police work trying to figure out where he purchased them, where they were hidden, if they were hidden somewhere because according to this family, he had that one ar-15 weapon at home. and so a lot of questions, jim, today, as we're learning more about his arsenal of weapons. >> and what else did this couple say about the guns that cruz had? >> reporter: you know, this couple said they never saw the aggression that we have now seen from his social media and other acts. they just thought he was a little weird. and they did know that he had an ar-15 style rifle and they had a conversation about guns. take a listen. >> the befor

cnn's rosa flores joining us live from parkland, florida.xclusive reporting on the shooter's online activity which also is very disturbing. >> cnn obtained exclusive access into that disturbing world that the suspect functioned in. it's our colleague paul murphy was allowed inside an instagram chat room, where the suspect and five others talked about violence and shared pictures of weapons and body armor. and they also made comments that were very racist. things like, i hate black people because they're black. the suspect also made comments saying he hated jews because they were going to destroy the world. and that he hated gays and that gays, quote, he wanted to shoot them in the back of the head. he said, quote, i think i'm going to kill people. quote, my real mom was a jew and i am glad i never met her. they also spoke about getting weapons and about those weapons. in one conversation, one of the individuals tells the suspect he can buy an accessory that would make his ar-15 automatic. from law enforcement sources, we know that the gun th

she told our rosa flores that her worst fear became a reality on february 14th because she said i knew in my heart he was going to do t her son showed her an instagram post that the killer had put up. it was a foet off an ar-15-style rifle and caption about how he couldn't wait to buy one when he turned 18. soon after there was another post where he said, quote, he would shoot up a school. with that information, she called 911. with that information, with warning of the threat she felt he posed, here is what officials then told her. >> i begged him and he basically told me that it was not an immediate threat. he couldn't do anything, he told me. i remember him leaving and me thinking my god, he is going to kill someone and i can do nothing about it. >> after that moment, when officials told her they would do nothing and she recognized she couldn't do anything more, she said she felt defeated. she was scared. she was afraid for her children. she did not want them spending any time around nikolas kroocru. that call she made, one of the two being investigated for being improperly handled

cnn's rosa flores live in parkland and you have new information which is -- >> reporter: i just heard from the public information officer from the state attorney taking this case. what i'm told, as of 7:45 the suspect is still being processed. what that means is he probably will be facing a judge in the 8:00 document as we had heart about earlier. he will probably be added to the 1:30 docket. i also have another tidbit of information from jim lewis, the attorney representing the suspect's family. he says he doesn't plan to be at the courthouse today to represent the suspect. he's expecting for the suspect to get a court-appointed attorney. behind me you can see this is still a very active scene as investigators are scouring through the horrors left behind. we have to warn you some of the individu video you're about to see is very graphic.
