nbc bay area's joe rosato jr. has the story of a local chef who went from feeding hundreds every day to thousands in need. >> reporter: there's an artistry to fine dining. dishes must be as beautiful as they are delicious. it's a world richard crocker knows well. crocker spent 30 years at the top of his game, crafting meals in san francisco's vaunted boulevard fine dining restaurants. but just like in fine dining, the pandemic had a way of altering courses. with boulevard temporarily shuttered, crocker accepted a job with another food purveyor where shutting the doors wasn't an option. that place was the san francisco meals on wheels. >> i have been involved with meals on wheels for a long time. i think the mission is fantastic. >> reporter: crocker rolled up his sleeves, bringing his culinary chops as the organization's new executive chef. he quickly learned you scale up. >> coming from fine dining where you may make 20 or 50 of an item on a particular night, and now add a couple zeros to that. we're making 2,000
