we have learned of another scare at a census data capture center, this time in rosedale, baltimore county. the powdery substance was found but no evacuations have been made and no one was taken to the hospital. this morning a 41-year-old man was killed when a slab of granite falls on top of him in anne arundel county. it happen for 9:30. police say the man was unloading a tractor trailer when it happened. it is unknown if he was employed with american countertop or some other business. people around the world continue to mourn the loss of poland's president and first lady and other government leaders. they were killed saturday in an air crash in western russia. jim say that is in poland where people are still trying to come to grips with the tragedy. >> all night, a sea of candles burned outside the palace as poland began its week of mourning for president lech kaczynski and 95 others, including some of the nation's other key military commanders and economists, all killed saturday in an air crash in western russia. palace sources say his coffin will be displayed to the grieving public sta

officials say the child was in her mother's arms when they were struck at a busy intersection in rosedale. tim joins us in the newsroom with the latest on this story. >> we do not have many details about the incident, but witnesses say it was a terrible scene. they say the intersection is known to be dangerous. >> there are always police. >> robert craig soon found out what happened. a woman and a baby were crossing the philadelphia road bridge over the beltway around 4:00 sunday afternoon when baltimore county police say a pickup truck hit and killed a woman. witnesses say the baby appeared to be ok. police said the baby was taken to shock trauma for treatment. police shut down the road while investigating the accident. >> they had this one side of the street blocked off at the next light up here and there were not letting any traffic through. >> people who live and shop in the area were upset when they found out what happened. they say this is a dangerous intersection that many of them have to cross to get to the bus stop across the street. >> i think they need to do something else abou

it will take time, a long time, to get over what we saw in rosedale. a mother and her child crossing philadelphia road hit by a truck. abc2 news linda so with our story. >> reporter: it's a family's worst nightmare. the mother killed, baby was taken to the hospital. we're awaiting an update on the child's condition. a witness tells us the mother was crossing the street with her baby when she was hit by a pickup truck. skid marks show where the truck went off the road. it happened on philadelphia road near the beltway. worcester county police -- baltimore county police say say the woman was taken to shock trauma where she was pronounced dead. robert craig witnessed the crash. he said she was walking to the bus stop, when she realized she was about to be hit she tried to get her baby to safety. >> from what i understand she was able to push the baby out of the way and was pinned under the truck. >> reporter: police have not said if the driver of the pickup will be charged. we're hoping to get an update on the baby's condition later this morning. in the s
