i will now turn it over to rosemary boske >> thank you, nick. >> thank you, nick. members of the commission, one of the things i want you to be aware of as far as the history of this is that one of the things that came out in the reports from the sro collaborative, which is funded by the department of building inspection, is that the city itself takes recently homeless individuals, individuals who are barely ambulatory, and sends them to sro's. we have individuals in these buildings that are aging in place and becoming seniors. i will tell you that the first and most primary xlaipblt that the department of building inspection gets regarding a residential hotel has to do with the bathrooms, the common bathrooms. they are highly problematic as far as the maintenance of them and to make sure that they are available for the residents. typically the code in chapter 5 indicates you have to have a minimum of two of these common bathrooms per floor, given the range of guest rooms. the ordinance proposes retroactively that 6 months after the date of adoption the ordinance w

i want to reiterate what commissioner walker and rosemary -- sorry. i want to reiterate what commissioner walker and what rosemary mentioned about the whole -- why this whole program was designed. i think the whole reason -- of course, why [speaker not understood] is here is because we are to actually leverage some of the work that dbi does. so, when we go into the buildings, we are able to resolve some of the issues between management and tenants. so, therefore, dbi inspectors don't need to spend a lot of time to get inspectors to come in. they can use that time to do another inspection with much more severe building. so, i think the whole -- and also what our role work, we have much more leverage between the tenants, getting to know them better and understanding what the specific issues are. like what was mentioned, they are short staffed. this program is designed for us to step in, resolve these issues as quick as possible, and then without even passing it to dbi's end. because of the state, we have many opportunities to work with the landlords, to

i had never met rosemary boske, and i was expecting -- i had three condo conversions, this building -- in my building. dealing with the building department, very level headed, professional. that's what i was expecting. she came out with david gonia, who is the senior inspector, and ivan sarkeny and all three of them screaming at me in unison that i had forged this list, they were going to send it to the city attorney and prosecute me. anyway, what happened is i finally had to get my attorney in there to come and get these three cases. and i cleared them in 2006. but now they're reappearing on these four notices that i got from 2009. one thing i have to say about just continuing about what happened, i did clear these cases in 2006. at the same time, then david gonia came out there. he's now denying that he ever cleared them. and with isabelle olaveras, another housing inspector. at the same time i didn't know this, isabelle a went to my noe street property and entered the passage way, which is unlocked, twice and wrote four pages of items including the back staircase which i had comple
