. >> yeah, rosemary orozco joining us now. i've got to ask you in regards to the eye of the storm, not quite on land. when do you expect it to hit the coastline? >> it is getting very close within 20 miles of hitting, making landfall. and they are showing you patricia and that they will come to shore right there over parts of the area as you can see that it is right about here off the coast. and within the next 30 minutes or so. and looking at patricia as we should say the strongest, we mean the pressure that they will remain the strongest wind. by the national hurricane center. and the east pacific as well, and again this is one of the strongest ever observed. stronger than hurricane andrew and we're looking at the possibility of very strong wind and very heavy rain. here is a look at the path as it is going to move ashore. when it does, there will be 6- 12 inches of rain, meaning major flooding in the areas. and that means that the landslides are a possibility that the storm surge and the waves are up to about 30 feet. that

. >> and let's go to rosemary and tell us what we can expect. is it done? >> we have the end of it. it continues to move south of us. let's talk about some of that lightning that was active in the overnight hours. i want to give you a look at what is going on out there this morning. starting out with storm tracker. this is actually a 12-hour time lapse for you here. notice when the activity rolls through in the overnight hours and moved through the east bay and continued in this direction. some areas like napa reported .2 of an inch of rain. the areas around concord, clayton, and fairfield. getting rain here as well and just this band that rolled through. it was between midnight and 2 in the morning when that lightning fired off. i will remove the radar. you can see a fairly active move through the overnight hours and this system now, moving south over southern california and backing it up to show you a three-hour time lapse. and you can see how it's shifted to the south. the center of the system is into the areas around monterey and this is moving out of the way. i again, i think t

. >> let's get right oefer to rosemary -- over to rosemary to talk about the fog. my drive in, could barely see in front of the headlights. >> yes. the headline at this hour is definitely the fog. very thick. many of us experiencing it. let's take a look outside. see what's going on outside of the doors. in and around san jose, you have the fog there with visibility down to about a mile in some areas. over portions along the coastline, patchy dense fog, meaning visibility down to about a quarter mile and if we flip over to stormtracker2, take a look at some of this fog here that has moved in, it did while we slept. this morning we're waking up along the coast, the peninsula into the east bay, north bay and south bay. we'll take a look at some of the visibility in and around portions of the north bay, napa and santa rosa reporting visibility down to a quarter mile. this gray indicating where it's at its thickest. you will find it along the i-80 stretch through fairfield if you are traveling. to the east bay, we have visibility less than a mile in areas like oakland.

let's bring in rosemary orozco. she has been monitoring hurricane patricia all morning. >> it is so intense. frightening to think what they're going through. ironically. 77 degrees. and still a light breeze. if i move in closer, we'll take a look. 85 miles off of the coast where patricia is a sustained wind still at 200 miles an hour, moving north at 12 miles an hour and is expected to make landfall a little later this afternoon right around 3, 4, maybe 5:00 in the afternoon. now, this projected path actually has patricia weakening a little bit but still going to pack an amazing punch. we're looking at anywhere from five to 10 to 12 inches of rain, even 20 to 25 for some of those hills and some of those water spots. we're looking at waves at about 30 feet. so, it is a lot of flooding, major, major destruction expected with this storm and as it moves inland. it will continue to weaken. it will impact portions the u.s. and we'll track that further down the road. but again, for today, the headline is definitely patrici

i'm rosemary connors, just after 8:30 on this saturday. we'll get you to that scene down at independence mall and have your forecast in just a moment, but we want to update you on some new information that's coming out about the breaking news involving the russian airliner that crashed. we just learned that all 217 passengers and seven crew members were killed. the air bus crashed in egypt's central sinai peninsula, taking off from the red sea resort and it was on its way to the russian city of st. petersburg. we're finds out that egyptian officials say that the pilot of the airliner had reported technical difficulties andmented to make an emergency landing before losing contact with air traffic controllers. this is the airline involved in the crash, an air bus plane similar to the one involved. the plane vapished from radar 23 minutes into the flight. this is new video of tearful -- of tearful friends and family members of passengers who arrived at the st. petersburg airport hoping for good news on loved ones, but as we told you, are lear

. >> all right, time to check in with our meteorologist rosemary orozco. how hot did it actually get outside today? >> near 90 degrees in santa rosa. a lot of mid to upper 80s for the inner east bay. we'll be slightly warmer for some even tomorrow. i think tomorrow will be one of the warmer days. we're talking about the offshore winds that erupted and brought that fire down in areas like in oakland. we do have the offshore winds, but not to the criteria that the national weather service has issued the advisories. the dry northerly winds turning northeasterly for the next 12 hours or so, continuing to drive our dry warming trend. outside our doors this afternoon as we mentioned santa rosa hit 89 degrees. in areas right around antioch and livermore also in the 80s. inside the bay take a look at areas like heyward and oakland and low 80s outside this afternoon. to get along the coastline where it was a beautiful day. mild, 67 with mostly sunny skies in areas right around pacifica as well as half moon bay with a look at the 24-hour temperature change from yest
