as rosemary was mentoring we haven't seen this type of scenario in a long time. >> this is a widespread event and it is being compared to the october 2017 fire season in the north bay. of wind we are looking at. that means there is a huge contingent of resources being put in place across the region to ee the power goes out and the wind starts that we have a lot of firefighting force on the ground. >> i can help but notice that some of the strongest winds will come wednesday evening. for folks that are within the advisory area, before they go to bed what should they be aware of? >> that is the most important question. a couple things we recommend. have a full tank of gas in your car and back your vehicle in. have a bad with the stuff you want to take with you should you need to get evacuated. those things include prescription medication, paperwork that you may need to grab. the other thing that is important is to remember who is in your community. is there a neighbor who needs more time to evuate. elderly or someone with a sability. it is that neighbor helping neighbor mentality that we

rosemary, the firefighters did the absolute best they could during that nice period of very light wind. >>> the entire day is tracking the winds from 5-15 miles-an- hour and thankfully they gained some ground. the northeast wind, the offshore breeze, a third time within a week or so and we were talking with officials and they said asked if there was a benefit to the offshore flow, meaning, could the fire burned over areas that have already burned? they said that could happen. at the same time, all the wind needs to do is shift further north or east and now we have a new fire and a new growth area. we will track this over the next 24 hours and it looks to be the hardest part for the firefighters when it comes to those winds but we watch them picked up over the east area of the advisory and i expect them to be on and off for most of the afternoon before they ramp up. looking at the current conditions, we have areas on the west edge with geyserville, and you notice the wind is 4-5 miles-per-hour but on the eastern edge, copper ridge is reporting 30 miles- per-hour and we lost the reading

let's bring in meteorologist rosemary orozco with more on the conditions. >> absolutely. all of that smoke out there essentially hanging right over the north bay. visibility is down to two miles or so in some areas. here's a vantage point from up above and that relax in the winds is a good thing for the firefight and the spread. when it comes to that smoke, there's nothing to push it out of the area so it's just hovering right over us today. here's a look at the winds out there, i will point out first that the temperatures are very mild. that's not going to change into the days ahead. but the winds are expected to return by tomorrow. i really need to point out healdsburg because right now, relative humidity at 14%. the winds from the south at 15 miles per hour, this is the exact location that was hitting 93 miles per hour yesterday. definitely a different day out there. at this peak reporting 12 miles per hour and mt. st. helena also in the upper 80s about 87 miles per hour yesterday. only five miles per hour now so that's definitely good for the firefight. winds from dif

. >>> let's get over to rosemary orozco. >> it looks like we will finally get a break from the offshore breeze that you had talked about a moment ago. again, the third time around in less than a week and guys, typically this time of year, we are tracking rain, often tracking rain for trick-or- treaters, not happening. in fact, the first chance for rain at the moment looks like it could be 1 to 2 weeks out so we are looking at another spare the air alert. we talked about air quality a moment ago. let's check in on the current conditions in and around the bay area. we do have moderate reported in the inner east bay, santa clara valley, coast and central bay at this moment, understandably so and unhealthy for sensitive groups. we gave your look of the golden gate bridge looking toward the north a moment ago. that is because the wind is coming in this direction so you can understand why these communities will be faced with that smoke. on the other hand, central and south bay may get a bit of a break because that smoke is going to be drifting a little bit more toward areas of the pacific oce

let's bring in rosemary . >>> good morning. we have warmer weather on the way for your weekend. it will also bring with it some fire danger as we get into the month of october, we know how it goes. until the rains arrive we are dealing with very dry conditions. temperatures will be warming up today. the warmer days are still ahead. 80 degrees are so expected today. nearing 90 into areas further inland as we get into saturday, sunday and monday. i will show you that in the extended forecast. let's take a look at the advisory. this comes into play tomorrow night and you can see it's for the north bay and for the north bay hills. it starts at 8:00 tomorrow night and will go until early sunday morning. very dry conditions expected tomorrow and into the evening hours. the wind is expected to kick up anywhere from 30-35 miles per hour with gusts . with that, that heighten fire danger and so the red flag warning for the north bay hills tomorrow evening. outside our doors at this hour we have a cool start. upper 40s and areas of the east bay. livermore, 44. 54 in downtown san francisco.
