nbc 10's rosemary connors is live in center city with more. ry, what else can you tell us. >> reporter: well, pam, literally within the past few minutes, right here inside this ambulance, right in front of me on fillberg street, they just loaded a man on a stretcher into the back of that ambulance. he appeared to have a neck brace, and also appeared to be bleeding from one of his hands. that's all the details i have on him at the moment. we did just get some more information from the philadelphia fire department, via e-mail. this is what they tell us. that a man was in another elevator. there was damage to that elevator. that man being treated by ems. so we believe this is that second person. as we told you when we saw you at the top of the hour, there was a woman who was injured. she was inside one of the elevators that collapsed, that fell. we have video of that woman being transported to hahnemann hospital in a stretcher. she was alert and talking to us and appeared to be okay. the philly fire department is telling us that she was taken to h

we begin with nbc 10's rosemary connors. she is live outside dougherty's home in south philadelphia. rosemary, what are you seeing there? >> reporter: tracy, all morning long, investigators have been inside two homes here on the 1900 block east moinminhsa evidence. the brown brick home belongs to john dougherty. and the home next door, that belongs to a family member of john dougherty. investigators also inside there. oftentimes in these kind of fbi raids, you will see investigators bringing bags of evidence outside. that has yet to happen in this case. in fact, very little movement in and out of the homes, at least so far as we've seen this morning. state troopers have been positioned outside. right here on the side block, throughout the morning. in the meantime, johnny dougherty is positioned a little bit further up the block. he's with his lawyer and with his friends and family. john dougherty, of course, better known as johnny doc, the well-known business leader of the electrical union in philadelphia. all he would tell m

nbc 10's rosemary connors joins us live from center city now with more on what's next. rosemary? >> reporter: well, jim, here at the district attorney's office in center city, prosecutors over the coming months will be mapping out their case against monsignor william lynn for a second time. now, his new trial is expected to be scheduled for sometime next year. but already, plenty of people are weighing in on the case. and his release from prison earlier today on $250,000 bail. in center city, the rivera family who brought their son to see the sanctuary thought they had put monsignor william lynn and the case behind him. his release today on bail didn't sit well to them. >> the justice system convicted him once. >> reporter: while some evidence detailing the history of priest abuse and cover-up in the archdiocese may very well not be allowed in court this time around, williams is confident his team will have enough to get a second conviction. >> i firmly believe there will be sufficient evidence, again, to prove beyond a reasonable doubt that monsignor lynn knew that he was taking

rosemary connors has more details on that. rosemary, what happens next? >> reporter: well, keith, the plan here is for septa to roll out about ten repaired cars each week beginning august 21st. the sooner the better, certainly, for passengers. also for septa. the transit agency has incurred upwards of $1 million just last month in costs associated with these cars being out of service. all of septa's track silverliner cars will be back on track by mid-november. that's if the repairs, says septa, go according to plan. the problem appears to be in both the design and manufacturer of a load-bearing beam in the train's suspension system. the manufacturer under contract is working with septa and handling the fix. >> we're going to work as hard as we can to get the cars back. but in the end, you know, safety is -- it has to be the top value. >> reporter: in the meantime, the crowded trains continue to roll on, and in an effort to make sure passengers pay for tickets, starting this week they now must buy them before they board during the evening rush. >> it's jus

reporting live in center city, i'm rosemary connors, nbc 10 news. >> rosemary, thank you. nbc 10 was the only local station there when lynn walked out of prison late this afternoon. lynn was being held about two and a half hours north of philadelphia in wayne county. even if prosecutors get his conviction reinstated, he may not spend much more time in prison. deanna durante explains. >> reporter: this is the prison where monsignor william lynn has been housed. his ride showed up here just after 2:30 this afternoon. a white suv pulled up to building number 14. the person that was driving that car brought him a change of clothes and less than 20 minutes later, lynn left the prison here heading back to the philadelphia area. this is not the first time william lynn has been released from prison. his case has gone to the higher court, his original conviction in 2012. it's been historic for the church. lynn was not accused of himself harming a child, but was accused of moving a priest around and not protecting the children in the church. his attorney blamed the judge for allowin

i'm rosemary connors. >> i'm vai sikahema.bout this big storm that's about to hit hawaii, also here on the east coast and in florida, how's it going to affect us. let's get right to meteorologist bill henley with his first alert neighborhood forecast. >> there's plenty to track this morning. the storms are not affecting us but fog is. light fog in the philadelphia area, not an issue for reading and allentown. coatesville where we typically see fog. blue bell, reduced visibility there. the thickest fog is new jersey, mt. holly, burlington county, dense fog there, down to a mile and a quarter in toms river. the fog spread across delaware bay and into delaware this morning. visibility is decreasing in dover. a foggy start but it's not going to last all day. cool temperatures, right now, 64 degrees. you can see some of the light fog and low clouds from this view in easton this morning. 80 degrees by 10:00. the fog will quickly disappear with a little bit of a warmup. we'll see that warmup in new jersey, 89 degrees this afternoon.

rosemary connors was the guest emcee there. >>> let's get back to meteorologist sheena parveen trackingstrong storms out there. >> it's mainly heading into cape may county. most of the storms south of philadelphia. but cape may county under a severe thunderstorm warning. a lot of lightning with this thunderstorm. the villas seeing quite a bit of lightning. and we have that severe thunderstorm warning until 12:35, extending down into parts of atlanta county. a lot of lightning, the heavy rain too, and potential hail. we've seen indications of possibly walnut-sized hail. it's moving quickly, around 45 miles per hour. cape may court house expected by 12:42. so it's going to keep sliding up the shore in cape may, then move into atlantic county, but take a look at the lightning. in the past 15 minutes, we've seen 130 lightning strikes. so about 5 minutes before that, we had about 80 lightning strikes. you can see the lightning in this thunderstorm is building. getting a lot stronger. i don't think it's going to be weakening anytime soon. egg harbor township, very heavy rain heading your way

welcome back to nbc 10 news today, i'm rosemary connors, it's 5:30 on this saturday. at least in philadelphia all looks dry. let's check in with meteorologist krystal klei. krystal, you were telling me some starts are actually starting to see some showers. >> that's right. most of us not yet seeing the showers out there in philadelphia, we are at 76 degrees, clouds hanging overhead but not seeing the rain. areas like new jersey some parts are seeing showers now. 74 in parts of south jersey and also if you move lehigh valley 73 to delaware 75. parts of the delaware beaches have been seeing some of those storms. your radar is showing us as we move around the region you go from very light spots maybe making it to the ground although this light green indicates sometimes not yet making it to the surface, lehigh valley moving into the suburbs and then delaware and as well parts of new jersey along the shore. that's where we do see some showers with rain making it to the ground, mostly the light greens indicating a light rain, the pockets of yellow orange indicating a little

i'm rosemary connors. we begin with breaking news. passengers were evacuated from new york's busiest airport after somebody reported hearing gunfire. here's what we know. passengers in two terminals at jfk international airport were forced to leave. police searched but didn't find anyone with a gun and didn't find any shell casings. the sound of people cheering and clapping while watching the olympics on tvs at the airport may have been mistaken for the sound of gunfire. passengers are now being allowed back in while the investigation continues. >>> now in the dangerous heat smothering our area. still sweltering in center city, philadelphia. we look from the campus camera. the extreme heat turned deadly this weekend and the heat wave will be with us for the start of our workweek. let's get to chief meteorologist glenn hurricane schwartz and the first alert neighborhood forecast. >> this is impacting the entire area, including the shore which has seen temperatures well into the 90s. the worst of it is in philadelphia, delaware and in s

. >> and i'm rosemary connors. joining us live from rio de janeiro is nbc 10's jacqueline london.ackie, we've been following this controversy surrounding ryan lochte for several days. now the olympic swimmer is apologizing. >> reporter: he did apologize for some things, but he stopped short of admitting to accusations of public drunkenness and vandalism. ryan lochte broke his silence today, as questions swirled about his account of an alleged armed robbery. he posted a statement on social media. here's what it said. he says, i want to apologize for my behavior last weekend, for not being more careful and candid in how i described the events of that early morning. end quote. lochte had told the "today" show's bully bush that he and three teammates were robbed at gun point outside a rio gas station. they were on their way back to the athletes village from a party. but this video was released yesterday. the swimmers were drunk when they vandalized a bathroom and got in an argument with the armed security guards. they pointed their guns at the swimmers and asked them to pay for the da
