i'm rosemary connors. it's 5:00 on this very dreary saturday. all week we've been warning you about the severe weather and here it is. the heavy rain has been with us since last night. krystal klei has been keeping close watch of this system that is just soaking the region. >> that's right. especially as sxenkexpected sou jersey and southern delaware where the heaviest is moving through. if you watch the radar loop you see the deeper greens, and then the yellows oranges starting in philadelphia andhe heaviest ban southern delaware and parts of the jersey shore, that's where we've been getting flooding reports especially over cape may county. right now there are five or six reports coming in. the loop looks like it is having an issue so we'll get back to that in a moment. here is a look at the watchings and warnings. the green is a flash flood watch that is in place through 2:00. we have this in place for the area from philadelphia pretty much south. and i really think that the issue with flash flooding mostly will be atlantic, cape may, cumberla

. >>> good morning, i'm rosemary connors. heavy rain has been pounding the shore especially for hours and that means high water. krystal klei is tracking the conditions out there. some can be dangerous. >> yeah, that is right especially for areas like cape may, atlantic county. those are where we're seeing the heaviest rain and flood reports. all of the ground is saturate baud we had heavy rain last saturday, sunday and monday and then it was cloudy. so really the moisture in the ground wasn't able to dry out. so any rain that hits the surface, it can lead to flooding. and what we're looking at is the threat zone highest over southern delaware and the jersey shore. the yellows and reds is the heaviest rain falling out there. there is now a flash flood warning in place through 8:15 this morning and that is because we already have reports of over three inches of rain that have fallen. 3 to 4 inches is only needed for flooding to occur. the whole area is under a flash flood watch meaning pretty much from philadelphia south anywh

i'm rosemary connors. a first alert this morning because of the heavy rain and the subsequent flooding in our region and especially down the shore. let's take a live look at the beach in cape may. the heaviest of the rain is starting to push out as you can see here though lingering showers. and that will be with us into the early afternoon. krystal klei has those details for us. >> so the good news is like you said, the heaviest rain has moved offshore barely clipping along the shore line here. in fact most has pulled off of cape may county and moved out of delaware as a whole. just lingering light showers over parts of philadelphia into mercer county and then wrapping just against the shore line. let's take a closer look. that deep green and little pockets of yellow still indicate a fairly steady rain coming down from about atlantic city to ship bottom. but down to cape may where that flash flood warning is in effect through 8:15, we are seeing the rain having come to a close for now. still some spotty sh

rosemary connor is live. >> reporter: this all started with two carjackings.ended with philadelphia police nabbing two suspects. while as you mentioned nobody was hurt here an officer did fire off one round from his gun. this all played out. it happened in the northeast. philadelphia police tell us they first tracked down one of our suspects. an officer had the description from a carjacking that was on bustleton avenue. two men robbed a security guard there. they showed up in a stolen hyundai suv. one of the suspects stayed in the hyundai and took off after robbing the guard. the other stole the security gar guard's camry. the officer spotted the camry and the suspect driving the car got out, pointed his gun and that's when the officer fired off a round. >> the officer certainly has a right and duty to defend himself and anyone else present in these type of exchanges or encounters. given the circumstances it would tend to give rise where you would be able to defend yourself. >> reporter: nobody injured here. after the suspect pointed his gun and the officer fi

reporting live, rosemary connors, nbc 10 news. >> now to the latest on the tragedy at the ohio state fair. within the last hour, the manufacturer of the ride that malfunctioned have issued a shut down of that ride. >> this evening the fair is is back open. the ride called the fireball malfunctioned last night. witnesses say the ride was spinning and at least one person flew off. the work er hit the emergency break and the whole car detached. three of the injured are in critical condition. >> it was going for a minute and it was at its highest point and i saw somebody fall out of the ride. a minute later, the whole row of seats fell off and hit the ground. >> even though the fair is open today, all of the the rides are shut down until they are determined to be safe. there was questions about pennsylvania, new jersey and delaware. so many people spend their summers at parks, fairs and carnivals. in pennsylvania it's the responsibility of the department of agriculture. in new jersey it's the department of community affairs. in delaware the state fire marshals office handles safety and i

that's where rosemary connors is joining us live.he day looking into the background of the man arrested today. >> reporter: sean kratz led detectives to this home here on busy road. investigators say they found two guns on the property. he's nonetheless pleading not guilty to the murder charges. >> nice kid. i have no complaints at all. >> reporter: neighbors may describe 20-year-old sean kratz that way, but prosecutors are calling him a murder charged in the deaths of three of the four young men. investigators say he's the cousin of cosmo dinardo, who is charged with murdering the men and burying their bodies their family's farm. >> who has ha type of mentality to do it. >> reporter: investigators armed with metal detectors looked for evidence today at this house in montgomery county. police left with a box marked evidence. neighbors say a relative owns the house. >> is there anything you can tell us? >> a man seen coming and going throughout the day would not comment about kratz, who lives here in northeast philadelphia. detectives

i'm rosemary connors. here is a live look down the shore right now at cape may. few people out there on the beach. you can see the cloudy weather still lingering along with showers. we have live team coverage this morning. ted greenberg is live for us in margate where some of the roads are flooded. and krystal klei is tracking the storm moving out. krystal. >> and we're still looking at cloudy conditions, still at some spot showers out there. this is a live view in easton, pennsylvania. in parts of the lehigh valley and berks county, some areas did not see a drop of rain from this system that brought areas the jersey shore and delaware rained for 12 hours straight. so huge difference neighborhood to neighborhood. in philadelphia, close to half an inch, but that was about it. now just dark gray skies overhead. and still spot showers falling in the distance. otherwise a lot of us dry at this hour, even along the jersey shore you see we have finally cleared out. just a few spots of green picking up on radar. and this is what i expect to continue through the rest of
