let's go to roy taylor. >> this is on magnolia in the southern district of baltimore city. this has been going on for 45 minutes, traffic shut down in both directions. it is some type of police operation. we noticed a lot of atf officers in what we would considered a take-down year. -- in what we would consider take-down year. -- gear. suspects had taken off in a vehicle with somewhat of a small police pursuit and crashed into a pole. at least five people are hurt. we have not been able to get exactly what they were being observed for or what was going down with atf. they're pretty tight lipped right now. the victims went to shock trauma. they were in handcuffs. we're still trying to get more on this police activity. >> thank you. there's still no word on how southwest baltimore home broke into flames, killing a woman and her son as he was trying to save her life. neighbors told us don ritter was trapped on the third floor and her son was trying to save her. they both died of smoke inhalation. fire officials are trying to determine the cause of the fire. >> a developing sto

roy taylor is live over the scene. what is the latest from there? >> this is what the accident scene looks like. the 600 block of west patapsco avenue still remains shut down both east and west down. we have video to show you what it looked like earlier. the accident occurred are around 4:00 this afternoon. it appeared that a vehicle that was traveling eastbound patapsco avenue ended up losing control and going airborne, hitting a vehicle that was going westbound. there were as many as five men the units on the scene. at least two of them went to shock trauma. a school bus was somehow involved in the accident and had three children of special needs on the bus. we don't believe that they were seriously injured. we can tell you that their parents are down here on their way to the scene to pick up the children as city police investigate this tragic accident. >> the trial is now underway in the case against a top aide to former governor bob ehrlich. he is on call for his alleged role in trying to keep african- american voters at home during the 2010 gov
