and you have royal caribbean, cruises, people taking experiences. saying that the acceleration of consumer spending on experiences have propelled us towards another outstanding quarter and a robust 2023. so you're hearing it from the companies themselves. that they are seeing this intense consumer spending in the third quarter. >> vanessa, not to be a buzz kill, but economists are warning that this is likely going to slow down very soon? >> yeah. analysts are not expecting this the sustained momentum into the fourth quarter. and that is because in this third quarter gdp report, we also saw that household income dropped a bit. so you're going to see less disposable income going into the fourth quarter. you're also going to be seeing people feeling their student loan payments again, and that started up. and also interest rates continuing to climb. people may start pulling back because of that. and, boris, despite the fact that consumers are still spending, they're putting a lot of their purchases on credit cards. and that contributes to consumer debt.

neil: are back to quoting the cruise lines, royal caribbean is up. their forecast for the third time today, more people are taking cruises and spending more money on those cruises because the cruise lines of increased ticket prices. that's great news, stock is down 4% at one point. we when $82 a share. stuart: the ceo of mercedes-benz is speaking out on electric vehicles you will know what he's saying? lauren: they cost more to make and because of price competition they have to sell for less. another quote, i can hardly imagine the current status quo is fully sustainable for everybody. mercedes report lower profit, lower revenue. they were down 6%. still, despite this morning about the sustainability of the ev model, they are standing by their target at half of all their sales will be electric or hybrid by 2025 which is around the corner. stuart: that's very close and they want half their vehicles like that. tall order. thanks, now this, california governor newsom cozies up to xi xinping to talk about climate change. looks like you wants to be the de

what we have noticed today is this ship, "the rhapsody of the seas," which is owned by royal caribbean, and basically the united states has asked to use the ship in order to take americans out, we've seen mostly families, to be honest. it's mostly families with small children who are making the decision to leave. this ship holds more than 2,000 passengers, but we've only seen a few hundred americans. and again, it is oftentimes a mother, father, and three children, or two children, who are leaving, often the parents feel very strongly that they want to make sure that their kids are safe, are secure. there is a lot of conflict in leaving, as well, though. the families sort of trying to figure out what the right thing to do is. for many of them making sure their kids are safe and making sure their kids do not feel afraid, as many of them have expressed is the most important thing for these families, who some feel they should stay, because they want to be here to help the country as it goes through this cycle of war. but it is remarkable to see this, having to use a ship. and i want to ge

i mean, royal caribbean is down 30%. a case, it's a textbook breakout. and so bull traps are just that, a senanare, they're treacherous. look at nvidia. it's a big stock that has broken out. and the risk here is that this, too, is a trap. that this is adored, it's loved, and it's perhaps -- i think this is the right -- if you are long, you got to hedge. and/or just buy some puts and play for a speculative break. it looks like it has all the elements of a perspective bull trap. >> carter, may i ask you, in terms of the other examples of bull traps that have snared people, did you think that they looked like that they were going to reverse hard or did it look so textbook in terms of the breakout that there was a moment in time when you thought, you know, this could be it for these stocks? >> so, interestingly, happily, we did not publish a single one of those names as a breakout. and that wasn't necessarily great inside, a little bit of luck, but here's what it was. when all those stocks were breaking out there were so man

so what do you make of royal caribbean, florida governor ron desantis also stepping up?e apparently is now charging americans for their flights home, but you guys are not. is that true? >> yeah, that's exactly right. you know, again, it's one of those things the countries that you just named, i think it's only on the short list of what's to come. we have tremendous amounts of protests and riots around the u.s. embassies in lebanon right now in beirut. you're seeing a whirlwind where the china, russia, iran, north korea geopolitical alignments continue to advance their agendas. weakness senses the aggression that comes with it, and so the biden administration has demonstrated no willingness to actually step up, hold adversaries accountable and, in fact, they can't even say that iran is the largest state sponsor or terror behind this when you've got hamas who has been funded by iran, you've got a general in lebanon with the hezbollah who is funded by iran. you have the houthis of yemen, and you also have the iraq and syrian proxy militias that the former quds force command
