is this something that is -- the way -- is it so rube goldberg, they can't get behind it and build thepolitical support you need? >> in the first bill i got to vote for out of the house, it included a public option. i said many times on the trail i think we would is been better off if we stayed that, with one guaranteed plan that created competition in those markets that people could have understood with the essential benefits package. that original bill also included the negotiating of cheaping prescription drug rates and removal of the antitrust protection on the insurance companies. i think we would have seen the same amount of resistance from the right and lobbying industry for a longer bill. i wish me psued that. there's tremendous areciation for the fact we tried to make the system better. what i hear every day, now that i'm back in politics and before, a lot of folks whose lives have been transformed for the better about that. i think that's one of the main reasons the republicans yesterday were unwilling to even hold a single hearing on this bill because they know if they liste
