ktvu's ann rubin talked with a person whose actions probably saved lives. >> reporter: chad browning vehicle, went to gilroy, and attempted to drive into a stadium full of hundreds of 5th and 6th grade football players. he might have succeeded if not for the efforts of this man, one of the pop warner board members. >> a couple parents tried opening the front doors and tried to pull him out. i opened up the backdoor. >> reporter: he got in the car, trying to reason with him. he said browning appeared to be under the influence. authorities later found meth in the car. >> he's claiming to be an undercover officer that i can't have as evidence. he's not going to share it. >> reporter: in the meantime, the game's announcer told parents and kids to hide under the bleachers. >> i said we're going to be okay. just stay low, hide. we'll stay here until we know it's okay to move. >> reporter: adding to the confusion, browning had apparently stolen a cell phone and used it to call gilroy police to announce his intentions. an officer arrived as browning was barrelling toward the athletic field.
