so ruby and shaye so the people who have been publicly spreading lies about them, including rudy giuliani. and gore filing this week giuliani did not agree to the claims made by ruby freeman and shaye moss, but he did not cease dispute for the purpose of the lawsuit that he made false and actionable statements that carry meaning that is defamatory, per se. for what it's worth,'s aide says this is just a procedural move, but it appears to be part of a larger legal strategy to avoid turning over documents in a much larger case. and more on that in this show in a moment. but if we step back and take a look at the bigger picture here, this is all just the latest legal consequence for people in the maga world, whose frequent lies do occasionally meet the incredibly high legal threshold for defamation. there are consequences in our legal system for lying and about the reputation of others, as there should be. as we saw with ruby and shaye, these lies impact peoples lives deeply, terribly, and lately, there is one element of good news. that is that there has been a slow drip of accountability fo

joyce, let's talk about rudy giuliani.ims he did not admit to lying about georgia election workers. and he is trying to set up a motion to dismiss this case. what's going on here? >> right, so, rudy giuliani is trying to thread a very fine needle here. his reason is that he is trying to avoid expenses and litigation by conceding some of the key elements in a defamation case. the problem is, in essence, he is trying to do a little bit too much here. and by making these concessions that the statements that he made about ruby freeman and her daughter shaye moss were false, he is conceding the most important elements and a defamation case. the reason for the pushback is that he will ultimately try to say, well, these weren't factual statements. they were hyperbole. i wasn't being defamatory. i was just speaking, by example, using colorful language. and so, he will try to have it both ways, avoiding additional discovery, avoiding litigation costs, while at the same time, sneaking by and not being responsible for the defamation
