it was a part of myself that was an essential part of over the years, especially when i went on rupaul's doing drag professionally, it really became melded with my personality. i think for a lot of drag queens in particular, when they do drag, their persona is a reimagined version of themselves. for me, it was very much just me. you know? it was a full rotation -- representation of what i didn't change who i was on the inside or what i was embodying when i did dragon. i was doing myself with a little more glitter on. when i started to do drag on a regular basis, this is when i realized it was more than just a performance, but was part of who i was. it was in the back room at the stud, at the white horse, at the midnight sun, that i really got to know the trans women who are part of the drag scene. many of them, before i knew i was trans were telling me i was trans. there was another drag queen by the name of jupiter. i remember specifically being backstage and asking me, are you pickling? to her, that meant are you on the hormones? i remember being like, i don't know why she keeps asking

these guys were wearing wigs way before rupaul race. how did the white house skate by on this? how long before we change that name? you see, the rotunda holds all the major documents all written by dead white men. all you see is skin color and gender, it will piss you off. that sucks. what do you expect. going to the rotunda and expecting people of color to be credited for bill of rights -- it's like me going to the wnb in search of a wife. [laughter] they are twice my height. it's not going to work out. or it's like you going to cnn looking for an honest journalist. the task force suggest tips, however, to reimagine the rotunda including staging dance or performance art in the space that invites dialogue about the ways that the united states has the founding era. let's address the idea that adding performing arts makes it better. that suggestion is pretty insulting to people of color. to assume they can only contribute the crappiest of art, which is performance arts, when white liberals have no solution, they always turn to performance arts. which is really just improvizationa
