after significantly trailing, the russell 2000 gaining momentum in the new year.l cap index hit a lifetime high, closed at a record on friday just as everybody was counting out the russell 2000 at the beginning of the year. is it time to jump into small caps or does it make more sense to take your money on the road abroad? let's bring in our market panel and battle it out. joining me, cam by ya chief investment officer and lamarvillely, villi balanced fund manager. first, because the russell did close at a record high on friday, you're saying go with these little guys who did not outpace the s&p last year but now are coming back and looking great. why? >> absolutely. you know, what happened last year was investors were looking at bonds and realized they couldn't get any yields, so they jumped over and bought these very large mega-cap blue chip stocks. we think there's still value to be had in the small cap lawyer. as your metric just showed, there's almost a ten percentage point difference between the two, so there's a lot more room to run where we tend to focus.
