my partner and i, my uncle, russell king and i, decided we wanted to build a house on the panhandle. we wanted to build one on the coast. we knew it could be in harm's way. just like when you get in the car and buckle your seat belt, you're trying to prepare for something that you nope never happens. we built a house with that thought in mind. we didn't dwell as much on the building codes although we comply with every code. we dwelled on the one that could survive a hurricane. could we build one that would stand the big one. >> neil: you did that. obviously to withstand winds the way you did up to 250 miles an hour. you did a number of other things, right? what did you do structurally including the pilings and the cement and everything else? enlighten me. everybody is saying how did this happen? >> well, first off, on every parameter of the building, we went and look at the building materials and look at what was available. we would try to go the one step beyond what would be ordinary. for example, we were told that 30 foot pilings will be adequate. weuired about the cost of 40-foot
