(russell) during the election, facebook took some heat about fake "news" stories that appeared on peoples' news feeds.. they were stories.. that with a little bit of research.. anyone could have dispelled.. but many people didn't do any research.. and ended up believing everything they read. this is now going on with the situation in "standing rock"... and it's still continuing with politics.. so.. to help people sort through the "misinformation" on their feeds.. going to put warning labels on fake news articles.. the labels will read.. "this website is not a reliable news source".. and then it will give a reason why. right now, facebook is only testing this new warning system with a small number of users.. to see if it works.. and what the reaction is.. but already.. facebook is being applauded for taking steps to stop the growing spread of fake news.
