ryan chilcote has the latest. how will this move affect sales? >> they reported sales growth of 4.5% for 2013. that was back in line with expectations but it was their slowest growth in four years. what i think investors don't like this morning is they say next year is likely to be a lot like the past year. the issue really is how do you get away from the slower growth that appears to be a constant issue now when it comes to food sales? one way to do that is, for example, a maker of skin products for acne and skin cancer. these are issues that are unlikely to go away any time soon. it is a growth business and likely to be a growth business in the future. that acquisition where they got what they didn't already have from l'oreal is a sign in the direction they are going in. it started a couple of years ago, buying biotech companies in the united states, one makes an alzheimer's drink that is flavored. another that makes food for depression. this is a way to diversify themselves. there appears to be this issue with food globally in terms of sales g

ryan chilcote has more. how is nestle diverse applying?e thing is, the most important metric is full-year organic sales growth. that is 4.6% which is what analysts said they were expecting. really where nestle would like to be. they have the so-called nestle model of 5% to 6% on an annual basis. it is short of their own expectations though they have been guiding down. the way they are diversifying is getting into companies like one that they bought earlier this week, the 50% they didn't own. there are higher margins there and higher growth. this company makes products for acne and skin cancer, two things that aren't going to go away. we're all spending more money on our skin. you can bet it is going to remain a growth place. they have created a subsidiary for it to fit in, that is called nestle skin-health. it will set aside another called nestle's health science. they have stuff like a vanilla flavored drink and depression food thanks to biotech acquisitions they had in the last year. those businesses overall count for a couple billion do
