speaker, i rise today to honor matthew ryan jones of waco, texas. department sheriff was killed on october 11, 2019 as he assisted on the side of a highway. he was born on february 7, 1989 to ronnie and deb yeoh jones. he graduated from the texas state technical school before joining the sheriff's department in august of 2015. matt bravely served his community for four years and being named the department's k-9 deputy. fellow first responders sung the praises stating that matt never backed down from a challenge and understood the fate of policing. he was not only a proud public servant, he was a friend to all, loving husband and avid outdoorsman and he enjoyed hunting, fishing and riding his a.t.v. his life was defined by his service to the community. he will be remembered by his community as a husband, a son, a brother and selfless public servant. my wife and i offer our deepest and heart felt condolences to the jones family and lift up the family and friends of matt in our prayers. i requested the united states flag be flown to honor his life, leg
