this is not something parents want to hear abc 7 news reporter ryan curry spoke to san francisco unifiedbout their plans. the new school year is just days away, but for many in the bay area, they are short of dozens of teachers currently as of this morning have 123 classroom vacancies for teachers. san francisco. unified says they have made many attempts to hire teachers in some openings. they don't require a teaching credential just a bachelor's degree. we have a lot of different pathways. teaching to get your credential we work with our para-educators who want to become teachers and we actually have a parent to teach her pipeline. they have tried hiring events outreaches and recruitment strategies, but still they are short. i think it's a combination of the pandemic and the highin in'o unified both, oakland and mount diablo unified say they're short dozensf openings as well and some of those schools start in the middle of next week. mount diablo unified needs to hire teaching positions for almost every school level oakland unified says they have 40 to 50 staff roles. they need to fill
