now, back with us, nbc news chief capitol hill correspondent ryan nobles. ver today that he has the votes to get this over the finish line. and right now, the vote is scheduled to go forward sometime between 4 and 5:00 this evening. now, one of the things we'll be watching for is that there is a group of around four congressional republicans who, at this point are undecided. they have gone back and forth as to whether or not they're going to support this legislation. and they've received quite a bit of pressure from the white house, from the speaker's whip team, and, of course, from donald trump himself. there's only one republican that we know is a no vote, and that's thomas massie of kentucky. then there's the other side of the aisle, the democrats. how will they handle this vote? the leader of the democrats, hakeem jeffries, is imploring his members to vote no. he believes that this is a bad bill, and he doesn't want to give donald trump the opportunity to continue the cuts that they are currently employing in the white house. and they're fearful that jus

nbc news chief capitol hill correspondent ryan nobles is with us this morning. ryan. good morning. johnson. and then what now happens in the senate. yeah. >> well, on your first question, jose, this was a massive victory for speaker mike johnson because in many ways, what he did here was call the democrats bluff when it comes to this spending plan. they have for weeks been daring him to pass a continuing resolution or some sort of extension of government funding with only republican votes, thinking that that would be impossible for him to do because there is a gaggle of conservative republicans that never vote for this type of legislation. and with donald trump's help, and to be clear, donald trump played a big role in this process. johnson was able to secure their votes and pass this bill. so now it is squarely on the democrats to decide whether or not they are going to stand up to donald trump and stand up to senate republicans and withhold the votes that are necessary in order to get this legislation passed and avoid a government shutdown. i've spent the morning talking to as ma
