. >>> i'm joined with craig melvin, and ryan riley of the huffington post. craig, what's the latest from the police? anything beyond what i just said? >> reporter: no, the two officers we should note, they are expected to recover fully, the one shot in the face, the order shot in the shoulder. they are both expected to recover. we can also tell you about four blocks from here this afternoon a s.w.a.t. team entered a home. three people were taken from ha home in handcuffs. they were questioned, released, no arrests were made, so whoever shot those officers are still on the loose. i talked to an officer a short time ago, that the police presence tonight will be visibly stepped up. he also said there will be a number of folks not in uniform as well, patrolling not just the area behind me, but the box surrounding this area. there's a vigil that's expected to start at 8:00 eastern, and we would not be surprised if we saw just as many law enforcement officers there as we did folks who were turning out for the vigil. >> have you been able to register the public rea

. >> ryan riley covers the justice department and the supreme court for "the huffington post" and wason. ryan, given your background and your knowledge of this area how do you see the activity that happened last night, shots fired, two police officers injured, affecting the community going forward, especially with the doj report public and knowing that there are practices of prejudice that have been demonstrated for years by the police department? >> i mean, for one thing, i think it's sort of surprising we didn't have any officers injured back in november after this decision was made. there was a lot of gunfire at that time and things got pretty chaotic. as far as the progress in terms of the doj investigation, i think that this basically, you know, could potentially put things on hold or set things back even though there had been so much progress made in a very short period of time. just over the week you saw several resignations as a direct result of that doj report. >> so that's what the attorney general was talking about there, that there were good-faith steps that have been made

joining me huffington post ryan riley. >> thanks for having me. >> yesterday we had a pastor on the show who spoke with jeffrey williams while behind bars. we did a preinterview with the bishop at that time. he did not mention this allegation of police brutality or forced confession. i want to play a little of what he said. initially i did ask him did he ask the suspect, jeffrey williams if he actually committed the crime. let me play what he said here. >> what did he tell you regarding the allegations? >> he said he was upset, he was reacting out of frustration and anger. he showed a lot of remorse, he was very sorry and apologetic. >> he said he was apologetic. i asked him was he targeting the protesters. he says protesters were family. we protect each other. he wouldn't say who he was protesting or who he was targeting allegedly. he then went on to say in that interview that the individual had been abused by police and forced into this confession. what is happening on the ground as far as following through or following up on these accusations? >> sort of strange. there's been a lot of
