i thought this was a speech that jeb bush or marco rubio or lindsay graham could have given. >> you and i saw the news that paul ryan, senior most elected republican in the united states, third in line to the president, said i'll be voting for donald trump in the fall. there it is. >> yeah. i think i made clear my affection for paul ryan while we were here when he was sworn in as speaker. i think this was something he had to do. i don't think this was something he wanted to do. i think there was a lot of pressure on him. trump is the gop nominee. he put forth a list of judges that senator majority leader mitch mcconnell said that one list of judges was enough for him. paul ryan probably has a set of issues where he's more confident he can bring donald trump around. maybe it's entitlement reform. maybe it's something on his p r poverty agenda. >> ian bremmer, our national security and foreign affairs expert, again, watching this through your prism, ian, is a different matter. what did you make of the address? >> very solid foreign policy speech. i certainly thought the fact that she embraced the iran deal as a deal s

ryan said he was upset about there attack against the judge as well. multiple republican leads have come out very strongly against this. i think rubiog this for his own self-preservation. also, if he decides to run in florida, you know, trump is very popular. there so that's part of it. but i will take issue and say i think it is more fluid for the next generation, for millennials in particular. that's why the campaigns, clinton and trump have had trouble getting people to work on the campaigns. people of my generation, we're very upset. we don't have attachment to the d or r. we're more concerned about the candidate. and right now donald trump doesn't speak to me at all. i would rather vote for gary johnson. >> he is speaking to somebody though. we see his campaign and we have this report this afternoon, he still thinks this is something he wants to pursue. he's telling his campaign, go harder after this judge. go after anybody who criticizes you on this. who do you see -- i mean you're a democrat. you don't want limb to win. but you look at the political playing field, when he thinks there there san opening, who he is talking to?

so paul ryan, interesting advice for the rank and file, especially when you think about -- let's go back to senator marco rubioce, that news conference where he appeared to be near tears discussing how he would explain to his children backing donald trump at the time. now he is backing trump. >> yeah, tamron. i find all of paul ryan's statements about donald trump to be extraordinary. you have to remember that paul ryan is the republican house speaker, one of the most high ranking if not the most high ranking republican in all the land. and for him to be able to say to his members, you know what, use your conscience if you want to support donald trump or not. as we know, paul ryan has endorsed donald trump, although it came very reluctantly. this is hardly any kind of big endorsement when you basically say do what you want to be able to do. we are nearing a point where it might actually be every republican for himself or herself. and again, these are just not ordinary times when you have these types of calls from party leadership. >> but being that divided going into the convention, your front-runner -- your p

ryan, we will hear from him today. congress is back in session. including those who lined up in support of donald trump. they will face questions about this. >> very much so. i think senator rubiohe made a commitment earlier and he wants to honor that. he thinks that's best and noble. it will be interesting to see how long he is able to keep that commitment when so many things are being said and done by donald trump that marco rubio finds problematic. in the interview, he see he puts it on the voters. he says this is what the voters gave us. how long we have to put up with this is telling. >> let's talk about the democrats. hillary clinton making history overnight. this is history. history for hillary clinton. bernie sanders says he is the one with the best chance against trump. he says he can flip the super delegates and he was asked in a gaggle meeting of reporters or scrum with reporters yesterday in california about the call he received from the president. listen to what he said. >> i have spoken to president obama many, many times. >> did you speak with him yesterday? >> about many issues. it's not appropriate to talk about my discussion was the president. >> history, but

. >> so i think marco rubio has been struggling with this decision but what we're going to see is a concentrated effort on the part of the gop, probably hear paul ryanbout that right now from the rnc headquarters. there's going to be a concentrated effect not just for bringing voters out for the presidential race but down ballot and governor and statewide races. but here's the focus. a lot of polls right now, it's so far out. they are not significant. what we're seeing now with the shuffling and trump campaign being able to pivot from the primary campaign where he was attacking republicans and the house -- you know, the former candidates and his challengers, now he's shifting as we're going to see today in this speech, shifting his focus and prosecuting his case against hillary clinton and also barack obama. that's going to be a huge difference. that's where we're going to see a lot of these statewide numbers and these polls tighten up quite a bit. it's taken a while to get here, no mistaking that. but the pivot now from the primary race that the trump campaign has been doing to now the general will make a big difference. as we get closer to convent
