it has actually been in the works before hope s.f.. in some respects, hope s.f. came about in part from what we learned in our work today. we have master planned the site. we were with you for the whole approval and the design for development plan for the 700-plus unit community that is there. we are ready to start on phase one. we have started on phase one. we're ready to start the infrastructure on phase one and we'll be doing that shortly. this is probably about as broad of a public-private partnership as i would imagine one could expect. doug mentioned seven sister city agencies that we're working with. on the human capital side, i would say we have as many on the real estate structure, including the p.u.c., planning department, department of public works, building department, m.o.d., et cetera. so a very broad-based public partnership, and then, of course, our developer, the one actual actually financing and doing the work a partnership of ridge development and a local nonprofit based in the area. they have a long history of both public housing revital zatio

s.f. made is about products made in san francisco and so we talked about what is shopping local, what can we do to work together, how to best position the city in this -- to -- how can the city best position supporting that concept? and so what we came away with that we will be devicing the details of this down the road, but that what they saw was an important role for the office, for the city, is to really drive home the economic message. so, not so much who -- dealing with the database, you know, who are the locally owned merchants, who are the s.f. made merchants, not to say we can't work to identify those, but that our role was really to drive home the economic message, to really educate and promote that. so, i'll be discussing this with the merchants and then at a future date i'll also be coming to you with what that's going it look like. the shop s.f. get more campaign is designed for the holidays. this is again another place where merchants can become engaged and help drive business

there are 13 that we've talked about for a long time with the board all of last year, and we're adding s.f. public school as a city wide in the discussion. and that's because it has criteria for acceptance. and you have to have been in the prek. so that's why staff is recommending that we have that as the 14th city wide school. and in addition to having schools that are city wide, there's lots of programs that are city wide. so i'll give you an example. west portal has a chinese emersion program. it's going to have an attendance area. but the seats that are for the chinese emersion program will not be eligible for the attendance area. the same thing as collaren -- clarenden. 50% of their seats are actually reserved for that. which means that even though it has an attendance area. only 50% of the seats will be available for the attendance area tiebreaker. so the attendance areas, even though there's 58 schools with attendance areas, there are within schools programs that are city wide and that don't have a local preference. this is a distribution of all of the city wide programs. so you can

we have s.f. moma that will expand. 149 new montgomery, which is approved right across the street for residential. we have even the palace hotel that may or may not get condominiums approved. and with all of those things, that neighborhood -- our neighborhood will be "developed." of course, there will be more changes, but we're in a transitional stage right now. as a neighborhood it's really only been 10 years with residential down there. the residential is great. you see people walking their dogs. you heard mention of kindergartens. you see life on the weekends. ironically a lot of people who work in this building will also live in the neighborhood. so to me it's part of building a neighborhood. i think the exceptions are relatively minor, and if you were to build a project strictly by code you'd have a worse building and not a better building. and that's the reason that you ask for exceptions. and ironically i think a building half the size would still have -- generate a lot of the complaints ab

i'm the director of the sfpuc's clean power s.f. program, often referred to as c.c.a. so today i'm just going to go over what progress we've made in crafting the r.f.p. you should have a new revised r.f.p. draft for your pacts, as well as a summary sheet which describes many of the changes, the notable changes, from what was made public prior to the july 9 meeting. i want to go over a few things in general at a high level here regarding a lot of the additional clarifications that we added based on feedback that was heard at the last joint meeting of the p.u.c. and lafco, again, on july 9. one big area that was changed is clarification in the scoring, specifically in making it very explicit that the oral scoring -- the oral interview, those scores will be associated with the same elements that are being scored for the written portion. and just as a reminder in terms of the process for the r.f.p., the first step is evaluating that the firms have -- that proposals meet the minimum qualifications in order to be scored. should they not meet any of those minimum qualificatio
