>> yes, with the s.f. p.u.c., miss miller is quite right, there's a $500,000 not to exceed contract the p.u.c. has with power, with $390,000 remaining on it. as miss miller notes, every dollar that we can husband will be available for outreach and marketing and potential appropriations that might be needed. so there is a very strong interest in keeping consultant costs down to what actually lines up with what we need. on that point, one of the bits of direction we also heard an item similar to this, an item that was related to the extension of the contract, it's now been extended for another 12 months that was approved by my commission last week, last tuesday.

so i want to appreciate the leadership of the s.f. county executive committee for prioritizing alternative and community aid programming in this plan. and i want to push and encourage this board to take it one step further. there are other bowled and precedent setting -- bold and precedent-setting moves that we need you to take. i think, supervisor cohen, your point around s.f. taking on probation duties, what we saw in l.a. county is a huge red flag for a violation of fourth amendment rights for people. that's a huge concern. think we absolutely need to revisit that and take that responsibility away from sfpd i think the idea of potentially opening closed jails is terrible. if we open them, we will fill them. we will just continue to have overcrowding in our counties. i think that also needs to be taken off the table and another model moved that s.f. county can take for the state to show that putting people in jail, continuing to crowd our jails is not the answer to any of this. i think there are other precedent and setting moves tha

throughout san francisco will soon offer adjusted rates. 7,000 of the city's meters will be part of the s.f. park pilot program set to begin later this month. this is what it will mean -- 2/3 of the meters will be adjusted down to as low as $1.75 an hour in some places, if you consider that low. the remaining 1/3 of the rates will go to as much as $3.75 an hour. officials with the city's municipal transportation agency say the goal is to achieve the right level of parking availability. >>> a grieving community said good-bye today to the texas man that fell to his death during an as-rangers game. nearly 1,000 people attended a funeral for 39-year-old shannon stone. he was a firefighter who died last thursday when he tried catching a baseball tossed into the crowd by a rangers player. after the service, stone's widow and their 6-year-old son cooper walked hand in hand behind a fire truck carrying his casket. stone's son was with him at the game when he fell about 20 feet on to a concrete barrier after losing his balance trying to catch that ball. ♪ >>> there will be multiple funeral services

i know that questions were brought up about s.f. residents, giving preference. but you legally can't do that, i understand. so you have to take whoever comes. i guess there will be some scort of screening mechanism. i'm not exactly sure how you're going to do that. so what i think is you really have to look at this on a national basis, because we apparently have almost 1,600 homeless youth in san francisco, from what i'm hearing. and we know that for a variety of reasons we are a magnet for this situation, and some of these reasons are really understandable, but i think that we have to share the responsibility with other counties, the whole state, the country, to work out solutions that are more broad--based than trying to balance all the problems by san francisco alone. i think that's another reason we have budgetary problems is we don't do things regionally or nationally, we're trying to do them individually. i was very interested that there was someone from the affordable community from suburban areas. i'd like to talk to her about working things out, so we c
