i have been an s.f. resident for 21 years. and i have been going down to businesses on ninth and irving for pretty much the whole time i have been in this city. and what these two brothers have brought in, not just in a single ice cream shop that keeps to itself, they actively try to benefit the community around them. they actively partnered with a couple businesses around the area in the process process of creating their ice cream and allowing other businesses to share and giving their ice cream to different groups. they have also donated certain slavers' profits to different charities in support of a number of different causes. if you ever go visit, you will see some of their slavers and no that it isn't a big corporation that is trying to put 100 trucks on different streets. they are small business that is just trying to help expand the downtown area ' a culture and, hopefully, bring back a lot of people to the downtown area, which has been severely harmed in the past decade. not due to pedestrian traffic, but massive amoun

we see that in a role cost at s.f. general. so it was a cost born by the taxpayers of san francisco but there's a larger social cost that we have estimated at more than $500 million annually to the injuries and fatalities that we see on the streets. it is about saving lives and we're going to talk a lot about statistics. and i don't want to lose sight that these are real people, real neighbors, real friends. these are the names of the folks that we have lost just this year. i am not going to read them all out loud and i hope that we can all keep them in our thoughts as we make our way through this presentation. so overall, san francisco sees 30 traffic deaths per year. last year we had 20 recorded traffic deaths which was our lowest on average ever, recorded in san francisco history. and those are still 20 people who didn't make it home. so, you know, there's no opportunity for congratulations here and we still have to focus on getting to zero. and in san francisco seniors represent a disproportionate number of those deaths. so
