we understand the fiscal challenges facing s.f. mta and the importance of maintaining and expanding public transportation in san francisco something that communities in the south a market community rely heavily on. >> we must look to long term sustainable solutions that redistribute the enormous wealth that exists in the city. we must not give away our public lands to the highest bidder. public land should serve the public good. in the south market there is very little developable land and the intensive land speculation makes it very difficult to secure land for community focused development. as a family owns several parcels in soma such such as the mosconi center garage on third and the fifth and mission garage and we should be prioritizing sites like the mosconi garage for 100% affordable housing and community serving uses. given the affordable housing goals in the housing element, we as a city need to be developing a proactive plan for creating affordable housing and community serving infrastructure. public land plays a critical rol

s.f. mta board meeting. i read all of the emails that we receive and despite the fact that you know we've hit a high watermark for muni and customer satisfaction, i know that there's a lot of people that are still frustrated, frustrated with the agency and frustrated with some of our work. i want people to understand that i'm committed to finding solutions that work for everyone. i really believe in co-creation and collaboration and and it's important to me that people feel that the mta is working for them. i want to rebuild the trust that san franciscans have for our agency and i think part of how we do that is acknowledging that people in san francisco are not defined by their transportation choices and in fact most people in san francisco are making a lot of different choices on how they get around. >> nobody is just a biker or just a muni rider or just a driver. i'm an example of that. you know i take muni to work except on the days that i drive my daughter to school and i walk to most of

but we heard strong feedback from the s.f. mtard and other policymakers that they wanted other choices so at the february 18th meeting we brought the mta board three options. one was the service cuts. the second was to tap into the agency reserve and the third was a whole series of non-service cuts that we could look at kind of ranging from relatively not controversial like reducing our joint spending on station maintenance with bart where they actually don't think they're going to be able to do quite as much maintenance as we had budgeted for to very controversial like eliminate the city's crossing guard program at that meeting the board gave us some initial direction and the first is that they did not want to see us cut the crossings program but they did recognize that this is a program that initially was built with the expectation that we would have about $500,000 of support from the school district which has been reduced to about $75,000 over time. so we are looking for creative funding sources for that program and they also a

muni service on the 25 line and procurement of an additional battery electric bus for that line, s.f. mtais responsible for that project. the program includes construction of electric charging infrastructure at the church treasure island ferry terminal which facilitates the transition from interim diesel ferry service to fully electric service. that project will be delivered by rita will expand the bay wheels bike share system to treasure island and the project also includes memberships for residents and workers on the island during that grant period. finally one treasure island will launch and operate the transportation resource center which combines priority recommendations from the supplemental transportation study community ambassadors, travel trainings and marketing and communication regarding affordable transit options. looking ahead, assuming approval of this item today and better clarity at the federal level will sign these sub award agreements with our partners and mobilize to engage with the community and to refine the projects and begin procurement . >> as a reminder, this is t
