i'm marcus washington and i'm ginger conejero saab. laura garcia is off this morning. and we're going to get a look at the roads with mike and just, just a quick moment, but then we're going to start off first with the forecast with meteorologist kari hall. it's tuesday, kerry, i was actually seeing some some rain on my way down here. so it's a little bit of a mixed bag of weather for us. but the good thing is that we're seeing rain and not a lot of lightning. that's what we were watching out for. there is a lightning strike that i'm seeing right now up around the rodeo area. as we get a look this morning, but we are watching that very closely for that possibility that this lightning could possibly start some new fires. that's the concern this morning, a lot of humidity streaming in with that surge in moisture that we were watching yesterday evening. and that chance will continue as we go throughout today. our temperature are very warm as we're feeling this muggy air. this morning. we're in the low 90s for a high in morgan hill and low 80s for much of the south bay int

nbc bay area's ginger conejero saab is keeping a close eye on developments in redwood city.orter a disaster it is, but fortunately, no injuries from the firefighters who were battling an eight alarm fire yesterday. it's not something that you hear of very often and no injuries as well from construction workers who were on site when the fire broke out just over 24 hours ago. now take a look at the destruction that was left behind. that was a six story building with more than 100 living units. it was supposed to be 100 living units. this is part of mercy housing's middlefield junction project, a total of 179 units between two buildings. building b is what went up in flames. building a, which consists of 75 units in a child care center that did not burn, that remains standing at this point. now, we heard from the fire marshal from menlo park fire this morning. the cause of the fire is now being investigated. but they do believe the fire began on the fifth floor as construction workers were insulating units and working on sheetrock. it was open frame construction. it was the fir

i'm laura garcia, and i'm ginger conejero saab marcus washington is off now. we will check with cinthia pimentel on our weather. but first we're going to start with mike inouye. you are tracking a fatal crash in san jose. mike. yeah, this is an 80 highway 87. and it actually just cleared from the roadway. we have video from the scene just a few minutes ago. north bound, 87 at the taylor off ramp. there was a pedestrian that was hit and killed earlier this morning just before 3 a.m. they have completed all the investigation, all the crews have cleared, and now the on ramp just reopened. let's take a look at the map here. we're talking about north 87. there's still a little bit of slowing there. still crews that have to clear from the area. but the off ramp itself is fully open, as has 87 been for the last half an hour through the area. there was major slowing there. that has cleared and it should be completely clear probably by the time you get there if you're leaving your house now, but now north 101, we're seeing more slowing around blossom hill this crash. i

i'm marcus washington and i'm ginger conejero saab. laura garcia is off this morning tracking a lot on this monday already on the roads with mike, which we're going to get to. but first meteorologist kari hall has the continued warm up. yeah. for the valleys. it's still going to be hot today. but we are seeing temperatures ranging wildly across the bay area about 40 degrees for our afternoon highs. we are starting out all clear here in walnut creek. we're also seeing some more sunshine near the coastline today. we're watching out for the risk of dry lightning and an increased fire danger. those are the thunderstorms or the rain evaporates. but we're also going to see a cooling trend and better air quality as we go throughout the week. temperatures right now in the upper 40s for santa rosa, but starting out at 70 in vacaville, we're going to see those highs in the low 90s for the inland north bay and east bay. and 60s near the coast. mike, you're saying that traffic alerts still continues for 101? it is. and now it's more of a problem b

i'm ginger conejero saab in for marcus washington, and i'm laura garcia.inue to follow some breaking news. it is affecting the morning commute. lanes of 580 have been shut down. mike's been keeping track of this. yeah this is a huge impact to the tri valley, to the east bay commute. and someone has lost their life, at least as a result of this crash. reports of a motorcycle, a big rig, a pickup truck. those are three vehicles involved. and almost all lanes of westbound 580 are blocked. there is the far left lane, which is typically the fast track lane. all i know is that lane is open. i don't know if the fast track restrictions continue, but look at this backup. it's between north livermore and isabel, right in this critical stretch of westbound 580, it extends to where folks are joining in out of contra costa county into vasco road. let me widen out this a little bit and show you that it goes back to about greenville. and in fact, to build comes in before you get to greenville, blending in with the traffic that builds out of the altamont pass around north
