sabina kuriakose is following this police investigation tonight. sabina. >> reporter: iain, it was here at the corner of east and almond where police shot and kill suspect. he has now been identified as 31-year-old ridge barge of bridgeton. >> the cumberland county prosecutor's office vineland police were responding to gunshots blocks away about 1 this morning. suspect had fled and police were chasing them on foot when they allege that bar's opened fire on an officer. that's when the officer shot back killing the alleged robbery suspect. >> we spoke with witnesses at the scene who tell us it started when the alleged robbery victim was leaving a small family run restaurant after helping his friend close up. they tell us the two suspects pistol whipped the victim and shot at his friend when he ran to help. she co owns the business and says it was her husband closing up when the alleged armed men struck. >> they pull him out of the -- they want money. he didn't want to give up his wallet. they were hitting him with the gun, whatever they got. >> repor

let's get straight out to sabina kuriakose who's in north wales this evening. sabina? >> reporter: this happened in the middle of the church service. even as hymns were being as you know, prosecutors say a fight broke out at keystone fellowship church between two church members. the district attorney says one member pulled out a semi automatic handgun and shot the other member once in the chest. now, the victim died. he's been identified as 27-year-old robert barrackston montgomeriville. the shooter is cooperating with police. the person is not in custody. prosecutors say they're looking into whether this shooting was quote justified. we do know that the victim was not armed. and that the alleged shooter had the conceal to carry permit. now, at a press briefing a short time ago. district attorney kevin steele told us more about the circumstances surrounding the shooting. all of it remains vague as investigators continue to investigate what happened. >> the investigation into this is ongoing. we're going to have to determine whether the shooting was justified, under the
