our sabina kuriakose has the latest. >> reporter: what started as routine shift for camden county police detective kenneth egan and partner officer nicole barry saturday night ended with what police brass are calling an attack on their lives. this video shows the man authorities say popped a wiehle in front of detective egan knocking him on his back before driving over him. officer barry was also hurt when the atv struck the police car as she tried to climb out. >> he intentionally ran this officer over trying to seriously injure him. this could have been much worse like the officer is lucky to be alive at this point. >> reporter: the officers had been trying to stop the atv driver after noticing him tampering with pumps at east coast gas off broadway and mount vernon streets around 11:15 that night. here's another part of the video cops want to you see. a different atv this one rid ten by a man an woman at the scene. police are calling them witnes witnesses or persons of interest and they want to speak to them. >> they are eyewitnesses to this. like we really need the public's help also

our sabina kuriakose is on the story. >> reporter: what started as a routine shift for camden countyolice detective kennett egan and partner nicole berry saturday night ended with what police brass are calling an attack on their lives. this video shows man authorities say popped a wheel y in front of the detective egan knocking him on his back before driving over him. officer berry was also hurt, the atv struck the police car as she tried to climb out. >> he intentionally ran this officer over, trying to seriously injure him. this could have been much worse. the officer is lucky to be live at this point. >> reporter: officers had been trying to stop the atv driver after noticing him tampering with pumps off east coast gas around 11:15 that night. here's another part of the video cops want to you see, different atv ridden by a man and woman at scene, police are calling them witnesses or persons of interest as they want to speak to them. >> they are eyewitness toes they: we need public's help. >> reporter: detective egan has severe concussion and bruised ribs. his partner has cuts and

let's get over to sabina kuriakose. >> thomas and luce cease authorities just wrapped up a press conference here at headquarters. they are calling this the attempted murder of a police detective along with the serious injury of his partner. >>> look closely this is the video police are hoping helps them catch the man they say rammed an atv into camden county police deck driving over his face before taking off. >> this could have been much worse. like the officer is lucky to be alive at this point. >> reporter: it happened saturday night around 11:15 at the east coast gas station off broadway and mount vernon street. deputy chief joseph wysoki said detective kenneth egan and his partner were investigate a robbery when they saw the atv driver messing with gas station pumps. they pulled over and approached the driver. that's when authorities say he sped towards them. striking the cruiser door which slammed into officer barry's head as she tried to get out of the car. detective egan ran to her aid and that's when the atv allegedly sped towards him. >> literally ran the officer over. the officer
