the 23-year-old sacramento woman police believe was dead long before the flames engulfed her car. >> a homicide we believe occurred in sacramento, is what we determined, and he traveled with her to san francisco where he lit the car on fire. >> reporter: police believe that johnson killed her in sacramento and then drove with her body to rose street. both lived in sacramento but the suspect apparently had ties here in the bay area. >> the suspect has family members that reside here in san francisco. so he has obviously been here. he was familiar enough with the area. and we believe that's why possibly he drove here. >> reporter: we still don't know the relationship between the suspect and the victim but police say they did know each other. now johnson is facing charges for murder, arson and violation of parole. >> reporter: you can still see remnants of the fire and there is a small memorial. in sacramento, the victim's family filed a missing person's report just hours before the car was set on fire. >>> a plea tonight from the family of that 4-year-old little boy that was kidnapped
