the sands fire is burning near the amador/el dorado county east of sacramento. the el portal fire is inching into yosemite from the west. people forced from their homes in el portal learned last night that they could go home this morning. one home was burned at foresta. the road that connects state route 120 with yosemite valley is closed right now. and so are three campgrounds in the national park. and the fire is 5% contained. >>> the sands fire in amador county is now 75% contained and most evacuees are heading home. the fire burned 3800 acres and destroyed 13 homes. >>> the man accused of starting a northern california wildfire is facing serious charges. 37-year-old freddie smoke iii from sacramento is being charged with involuntary manslaughter. a man's body was found in the fire zone earlier this month. mr. smoke was arrested earlier for marijuana cultivation and accidentally starting the "bully fire."

out to sacramento we're seeing the hot temperatures increasing wind speeds for the afternoon and low humidity levels and i hate to say it this pattern is going to be around throughout the summer into the fall before we get the fall rains. fire danger is always going to be high, highest mid afternoon when it's the hottest and the winds pick up. we're seeing winds about 15 to 25 miles per hour. temperatures tomorrow turning hotter as that high strengthens into monday. that's going to bring hotter temperatures to the bay area and we could see a risk of lightning-sparked fires as the monsoon moisture begins to drift out of southern california toward the bay. we'll see high temperatures beginning to climb tomorrow. well in the 90s around san jose
