is i come out and introduce myself, introduce the guys a little bit, these are my students at sacramento city college then kick it off, hello, local celebrity, a guy from sacramento who does performances in poetry, he's an actor, he does rap music, all kinds of stuff, he doesn't juggle but he has a lot of talent and i'm sure he could. now we'll go to the spoken word with lsg >> wow, once you learn something, you own it. you can share it, no one can take it from you. i want you to leave here with something today. i want you to leave here with some of our knowledge. we are a group of actors, rappers, dancers and poets and if they will allow them to, all of them will sing you a chorus. this is based on true, real life stories, stories about kids just like you. kids have to make decisions every day like who are you going to be friends with, paying attention in class or even showing up are all choices you have to make every day. so i want you to pay attention to the choices that are made in this play so that later, when we come talk to you, you can tell us how you would handle these situations. so

now i have become a bureaucratic the city of sacramento, which seems like a pretty glorious way to go. but i have met some pretty fantastic people through that. i'm eager to work with you on all of the issues that you have. there's a great staff that operates the office in san francisco. they resolve most of the problems that we could possibly face. there have been a couple that people live come -- have asked me to come down and meet with them on. i am more than happy to do that when there is something that we cannot resolve at the local level. san francisco is a place that we are very proud of. we got kicked out of our office, just by the landlord and the release. there is a lot of political pressure on us just to keep the political office closed. as most of my staff will tell you, there was really one person who thought it was the perfect idea to stay in san francisco and pay the market rent, and that was me. maybe state bureaucrats did not like that some much, but at least one of them did, and that was me. we are delighted to be in san francisco. it is important for us to be on the

sacramento valley. only after a few visions the sentence read in may of 1971 the police in southern county california began to find men buried in the ground in the city in the central sacramento valley. the memorable sentence was clear enough and it no longer had the sound the was millo dramatic supplied by the author. but he kept finding problems in my article with my attempt to describe the child complex most of which i had witnessed and still about a thousand pages of notes were a few pages of the manuscript manage to convey the fact of that and some of its flavor and the occasional weirdness. for starters, how to overcome the perfectly sensible conviction that this can't be done. time after time i rewrote, wait a few days and then called them up only to hear that my account was still at best confused. at first i felt like reading to him it was of 2-cd but of course i couldn't yell. so while i tried to use it to be acknowledged sometimes when he replied there was a werries sound and his voice once or maybe twice a snort to tell me that what i had said was preposterous but he never raised his voice. i didn't keep the notes i made during the convers

and don't get it twisted, yes, we are in sacramento and i have been staying in the good part of the city, you know what i mean? and three different bad parts of the city, we've gone to, probably, 6 schools in those bad cities and occasionally you get those, sometimes you see those kids that when they are coming into the cafeteria or the gym, multi purpose room, what have you, they are always like talking the whole time, you know? and still to this day i see like three of those kids from those kids that are not -- what can i say -- they are not that bad any more. they are not that bad. i see them, they are cool, they are not making no bad choices. they remember me. oh, i'm making right choices, i'm making right choices. it makes you feel good that you reached out and you got hold of somebody, somebody that was probably on the wrong path on to the right path, you know what i mean? >> was the play based on characters in real life? >> yeah, some of them are. obviously like ivo, evolution, we wanted to make him the leader because he evolves throughout the play and teaches the rest of the kids
