it was showing 120 and 124 for sacramento valley. turns out that heat did happen but it got shifted to the north. take a look at the daytime highs, 107 seattle, 114 portland. if you look at a map that shows daytime highs, you are not getting the real picture. we will look at this a different way. now we are showing how far above average the locations are. the deeper the shade of red, the farther above average you go. when we talk about daytime highs of 104 in seattle, you might think it is hot but it's not crazy. 104 is 33 degrees above average. they shattered old records, records for daytime highs come in about 90. portland is doing the same with their 114. that's where the intensity is. back home, look at us. everywhere has temperatures above average until you get locations that have access to on shore flow like bay area and monterey. that's why i say we are shielded from the worst. we lucked out because the center of the high went north but we are also getting the benefit because there is a helpful marine layer. when you wake to g
